12" x 12" acoustic tile in engine room

I'm not sure if they're the same as on your boat. I tested one with a butane torch and couldn't light it.

Hi John. I've decided to keep the remaining tiles for future need.

    Lehman SP135 eng heat sensor

Second that. My motors have that extra sensor with the wires disconnected. Brian told they they are for cold start and to leave them disconnected because they just cause problems.

    Both Tachs stopped Working

I had the same issue. It turns out my spade connection on the exciter wire at the alternator had a loose fit. Tightened that up and problem solved. The weird thing is that it would work if the batteries were drained enough. I used to purposely run the batteries down some before starting up...

    Ford Lehman 2728T losing power

I had the same problem with one of my SP275s. There is a tube between the aftercooler and the injector pump (looks like a fuel line but it is for air). It is for sensing turbo boost, and it tells the injector pump to ramp up the fuel. Mine was totally clogged and the engine would not exceed...

Houston TX to Palmetto FL Stop Recommendations

I did the reverse trip in 2020 during Covid. Great trip except for everything being closed. Couldn't set foot on a beach in Florida and all restaurants were closed. I highly recommend Skipper Bob's cruising guide. https://www.amnautical.com/products/cruising-the-gulf-coast#.ZFo9HRGSlhE

    Line Handling Accident

Regardless of how you secure your boat never put a finger inside the eye of a splice. This can happen just as easily dropping on eye over a cleat if your fingers are inside. Alway grip the line without your fingers inside the eye.

    Gulf ICW advice

+1 for Skipper Bobs and AIS. We did the trip recently from the keys to Galveston. Plenty of places to spend the night. PM me if you have any questions.

    Abnormal Diesel oil analysis.

The SP275 has saltwater cooled aftercoolers. I would suspect it is leaking allowing the engine to ingest saltwater. Bomac has replacement cores for about $2K a piece.

12" x 12" acoustic tile in engine room

I just bought a whole bunch more of these than I need. If anyone wants a few I'll make you a deal.

    Wanted: Marine Trader rail hardware,

I am looking for the gate hardware for a rail opening. The PO apparently removed and trashed the gate. See Picture.

    Another Client Almost Scammed

I made the mistake of using their "services" twice. I paid with my Amex card and both times I started getting fraudulent charges on my card within a week. I had to cancel and replace the card. It might just be a coincidence but this has never happened to me any other time.

Ford Lehman SP275 - general comments?

We just bought a boat with 275s and discovered shortly after purchase it had leaky aftercooler cores. Bomac marine could get them for us. They were $1800.00 each and took about 3 weeks to get from England. We were told they had just become available again after 4 years of unavailability. We...

    Fuel difference

Kevmar, I don't mean to hijack your thread but I have some questions about your motors. I just bought a boat with twin SP275s. We are having work done on her so haven't had the chance to really run them yet. What is your fuel burn rate at 1900? Why did you start running higher revs? The 1st...
