    45' Northwest 2008

Got it. Thanks. Also the factory site works better in Chrome than IE7. The drop down boxes under models do not open in IE7.

    Too much electronics?

Maybe but a lot of this stuff is out dated and if I were to be using the boat in the middle of an ocean I would want the best possible (with in my budget) and not two outdated items of the same thing. The SSB's are 30 years and 45 years old. The radar is a 1992 vintage and the other 1997. The...

    Too much electronics?

Seems they just added and never took anything away. At some point it will overload the electrical system. Somewhat sense less to me. If I had done that with cars I would have a complete junk years in the back of the house. Same with computers or coffee makers or TVs you name it.

    Connection has been reset

I got it WA (Marin) is at 47.500N and WI (Theran) is at 44.500N and WI is less affected than WA so that must be it. The farther North the more the system wants to reset. Seams to make sense to me.

    i need help

Well here is a start. I would go to Boat Diesel.com. Join as a level 2 member . That is $50 a year. Then go to the Engine section and then to Yanmar. Then to the older engine numbers an you will see your engine listed. The High Idle is 3,800 RPM. 80% of that is 3,050 which is where your...

    battery isolator replacement suggestions

The problem can be over come with a Smart Regulator such as the Balmar ARS-5 or the MC-612. They have a sensor that goes to the B+ of the house and thus they will adjust the Alt voltage to what ever it needs to be to overcome the isolator diode and line drop. So if you have an isolator off of...

    Securing Items in Dinghy

The new ones built here in NC are very good as far as fit and finish. I bought one last year and could not get it to work on my swim platform so I sold it to Gonzo. He had a Weaver davit system already on his platform and I believe he is happy with the boat.

    Engine Replacement- here is one

Which resulted in the system we have now. Must have your foot on the brake to get the selector out of park. The five cylinder AUDI engine was a very smooth running engine.

    Anchor comparison for Eric

Chill out there Buzz. Did you not see the happy face. And no I have never been to Alaska nor do I want to anchor out in 100 MPH winds. If I did I can do that right here in NC and at least the temperature would be above 75*. Next thing your gonna tell us is you have a Blue OX as a pet.:)...

    PassageMaker Magazine

Sorry Ralph but I don't agree. There are a lot of things discussed that a DYI could do. Now you would have to know the open end from the box end that is true but not all of the items discussed are for the yards only.

I would guess not. Most of the time you could just lay out the chain and not need the anchor.:)

    Galvanic Isolator

I can tell you I will not ever have another boat without them. I never worry about the shore power and the fact that I have not needed outside zincs for over two years says they are doing their job. I now need the zincs replaced after two years and 3 months.

    New vessel Advice

I agree Don, For some the American is not a Nordic or a Nordhavn is not a Fleming which is not a Marlow. All of that is true so that never ends. I would like to point out that the later models, 2004 and up like my Mainship have a lot of the same items that are used in the boats built by the...

    Galvanic Isolator

Ron, Came with a Isolation Transformer or Galvanic Isolator? The Charles Transformers are pricey and are not on a lot of boats due to that. The two on my boat are a little over $1k each list. So that means a builder has an extra $1.7k or so in their cost to build. I give Mainship a lot of...
