I didn't go into detail as to my situation, the OP asked if there was a way to measure current in the water and I replied "apparently" based on what the marina electrician told me. I've had 2 marine electricians out on separate occasions who tested my bonding system and everything was fine...
I had an issue with current in the water, it was discovered that previous work on my power pedestal left the ground wire unattached. I was burning through zincs at a higher rate than previous. Apparently there is a disc that measures the current in the water around your boat, the marina...
I have twin Cummins 330hp that I run at 1800-2000rpm when heading to Catalina. The last 15 minutes of the 2 way trip I run at 2400-2600 to help keep injectors clean.
I had my AC/DC power mod and fan replaced by Long Beach Marine Refrigeration, they are certified Norcold repair, contact

Don't be discouraged, it's them not you. We ran into salespeople who "didn't know" answers to our questions so we walked away from many boats until we found a knowledgeable salesperson. Took us six months to find.
I have exact engines on a 41 ft Maxum and this is what I copied from Cummins burn rate at varying rpm's, not knots per hour.

Having gone through this process recently, if you do not plan on hiring a buyer's broker then be very suspicious of what the sellers broker tells you. The seller provides the boat, and it is up to you to find its faults if any. Price reductions would be appropriate after surveys and sea trials...
Our decision was rather quick. We were having a seaside lunch watching boats go by when my GF said maybe we should have a boat given our proximity to the ocean and my recent retirement. I had no prior boat ownership experience and viewed this as an adventure and a challenge.
Motor mounts may lead to other issues, survey on prior boat detected broken motor mounts that misaligned the shafts causing additional wear on the gear. We asked for repair allowance, seller refused, we walked.
Two different marinas (Huntington Beach, Long Beach) are insisting my policy add them as "additional insured" yet my carrier insists on "additional interest" and I'm in the middle with no slip for my journey south beginning Feb 5/6. Any suggestions?
After searching since August '20 making offers and subsequently rejecting 4 boats prior (the stories I can write) we are new owners of a 2001 Maxum 4100 SCA. I know it's not a Trawler but a Motor Yacht but the systems are the same. We are located in Seal Beach and the boat is in Alameda 377...
Like you, we found a boat we really liked except for over 100 blisters on the port side hull, seller offered a $25/blister credit, we walked. It depends on your tolerance for them and the possibility of returning blisters down the line.
