Follow me, Left marathon for Tennessee

We do it all the time. There is no cost, its your lines, fenders and own risk- responsibility. Your taxes have paid the toll:) As far as assistance, they can talk you through it but you are on your own. Its really not a big deal with two people on board. With one, its challanging. If you...

Ready2Go makes a very good point, the pins, ballards can stick. One thing I wanted to add to my post about the locking loop we use, when my wife goes on deck to tie off, she always wears a life vest which has oh it a sheathed knife in case we have to cut away. The line I have in the hose for...

We go through the locks a lot. What I made is a pice of rubber hose, four feet long with a line through it and tie the hose in to a loop with the extra line of about five feet leftover. You just put the hoop over the pin and pull hard to tie the line off on the center cleat. It beats playing...

You should start hearing banjos about now. As far as the locks, set up on both sides before you get there. Have lines by both center cleats to tie to the pin. Remember in the lock, the wind swirls like a vortex so, the wind may push you opposite of what you expect. Welcome to river boating...

We boat on the TN River in Chattanooga area. Trust me, those little bubba fishing boats wont think twice about buzzing by you at 60 mph BUT, you pass them with a wake higher than their beer can, and they will take action! They really should make paint ball guns legal on the river. The boat...

David, how far up the TN River are you going? We are on Chicamauga LAKE Just north of Chattanooga. The river system is pretty high right now with a lot of floating logs. Should be better by the time you get uo north. Safe travels.

    Crazy Boat Names

In the BVI's years ago was a huge wooden sloop name Blow Job and the wooden row boat on the stern was Hand Job! I couldn't stop laughing. My first boat, a Chris 251 was Wet Dream, this one is Soggy Dollar named after my favorite bar in the BVI's on Jost Van Dyke.
