Hello, We use a tender service to get to our moored boat, our access is via the swim platform. I need to protect my platform from the tender. I was thinking of going with something like this but I would have to add some board to accommodate the thickness. Any thoughts or suggestions:

I have submitted my coast guard documentation forms I have not received anything back from the coast guard other than an acknowledgement that they have received my paperwork. Can I register my boat with my state without any official paper work from the coast guard?

Yes previously documented. Do I need to get the abstract with it?

Ok I can still register w/state and use the boat while I am waiting for my coast guard documentation?

Can anyone tell me how long the process takes to get a boat documented once application is submitted the coast guard? Also, should I register first with the state (NY)?

I used a Diesel engine surveyor who is close to the boats location, I would suggest you have him look them over.

Engine surveyor felt they were more of a maintenance item. I checked the engines thoroughly for any active signs after the sea trail. I saw no drips or any sign of oil whatsoever.

Survey Thanks for all the replies. Got the official boat survey nothing earth shattering, broken bilge pump, inverter, weak battery and broken ac fan Aft cabin. Both surveyors see no reason not to go forward with the purchase. I’m going to see if maybe they will repair some of the items.

Exactly, I am coming from the outboard world, Twin diesels are a whole new story. I am relying heavily on the recommendations of the surveyors.

What is the logic behind not starting and engine or giving a sea trial before offer? Makes me think they are hiding something. Does not seem like a smart way to do business.

As he didn't finish the survey because of the sea trial I did not get his final recommendations. I did get a 10 page report on his finding of the visual inspection. Hopefully we can complete the survey this week.

Update: Survery Date was this past Saturday. 4/27 unfortunately we were unable to do the sea trial due high winds (gusts to 50 Mph). Only a partial engine survey was completed. A couple of things caught my attention. 1. Minor oil seepage was indicated on valve cover seals.: recommend...

I have heard the WiFi is good at my location. I will be mooring so no dock. I have heard there are WiFi cameras that have interior battery that lasts over s year. I just want to be able to check in also being able to have two conversation would be nice.

I would like to set up a camera to monitor my boat remotely. There is ample wifi in the area. Do I need some sort of router or can these cameras connect directly to the wifi and allow me to see the images on my smart phone?

Engine Surveyor wants to come same day and he will be their before boat surveyor. Does he need to see prop shafts etc in the course of his engine survey?

I agree as well, I was just saying why do an engine survey if the boat doesn’t pass the survey. But I guess it makes no sense to pay for two haul outs.
