    Albin 35 Command Bridge

For those that own, or have owned this boat, from an accommodations perspective, is there enough space for a couple to comfortably stay a week at a time?

    Endeavor 36 Trawler Cat

Anyone own one? Thinking about going to look at a '98 with Volvo TAMD22's. Wondering about cruise speed, comfort, general sea-keeping, build quality, etc. Thanks!

Need Guidance on Choosing a Boat Please

Thanks all....I'd love to have a power cat, but I'd have to triple my budget for most of them. The only one in my range, which I actually really like, is the PDQ, but they're not easy to come across.

Need Guidance on Choosing a Boat Please

Thanks Keith! From my initial research, it seems the 34 is loud and "squirrely" on plane, and at WOT, that would mean significantly reduced engine life. While the layout and space would be perfect, the hull design just won't work for our purposes. If there's a boat designed to run on plane...

Need Guidance on Choosing a Boat Please

Greetings! I'm beginning to more aggressively search for a boat that we can use as a "second home" of sorts. Two to three weeks would likely be the longest we'd stay on it, and 70% of the time would be at our home port marina facility with restaurant, showers, laundromat, etc. The other 30%...

Mainship Pilot 34 vs Albin 35TE

I'm in the middle stages of searching for a single diesel Downeast so we can get back into spending weekends on the boat. I've not physically been on either of these, and the Albin 35TE seems to be fairly uncommon. Anyone know these two boats well enough to say which would be best for...

    Sabreline 36 Fast Trawler

Greetings! This boat seems to check a lot of boxes. Traditional trawler styling, large bridge, two staterooms, gally up, etc. Run at 8kts and enjoy fuel efficiency when you have time to spare, or when you need to get there, run at 18kts. How is engine access with a pair of Cat 3116's? Thanks!

Pilot 30/34 Hard top vs Soft top

I've seen a couple of these come up, but made the wrong assumption they were trawlers. Yep! How is access to the outside of the engines? Pictures make it look nightmarish!

Pilot 30/34 Hard top vs Soft top

Thanks all. I'd definitely prefer the 34, but they're pushing outside the budget. I had never heard the 355 designation before. After looking it up, that's definitely my favorite version of the 30/31, with the galley upstairs in the pilot house. Guess I need to actually step foot on both...

Pilot 30/34 Hard top vs Soft top

I've been slowing looking for an economical coastal cruiser for overnighting 2-3 nights at marina's, and keep coming back to the Mainship Pilot 30II and 34. I'm looking at single engine versions of the 34. Looks like the 30II with Yanmar 315 cruises around 18KTS, and the 34 with Yanmar 370 is...

    Pre-2003 Mainship Pilot Performance

Thanks everyone! I have to say, I'm still confused by all of the data. I found a test report online (230HP Yanmar) that indicates performance that would be perfect for my use. Just not sure how realistic the data is. If the boat performed at 2600RPM as indicated below, I'd be thrilled. I...

    Pre-2003 Mainship Pilot Performance

It's not so much that a particular speed is important, but more so if the boat can run comfortably on plane at a reasonable RPM that maximizes fuel consumption. If the hull is designed to fully plane at 12kts without tabs at 2800rpm for example, that's fine. I just don't want to get in a...

    Pre-2003 Mainship Pilot Performance

By the way, the last survey report from 2019 indicates a cruise RPM/speed of 3000/12.7kts, and a WOT RPM/speed of 3426/15.8kts. Is this particular hull fully on plane at 12.7kts?

    Pre-2003 Mainship Pilot Performance

Thanks...This is what the owner has recorded:

    Pre-2003 Mainship Pilot Performance

That's what I'm worried about. The owner claims 13kts @ 2900rpm's. I can tolerate 13kts, but not 8kts or below.

    Pre-2003 Mainship Pilot Performance

Thanks...Ah, Tennessee. Spent a good amount of time in Johnson City.

Yes, apologies, I thought I had put that in the title...I've corrected it!

    Pre-2003 Mainship Pilot Performance

Pre-2003 Mainship Pilot 30 Performance If I'm correct, Mainship added a tunnel to the Pilot in '03, so my question is related to pre-'03 models. With the Yanmar 4LHA-STE powerplant, at what speed does the hull truly get "on plane"?

    Mainship Pilot 31/34

Thanks for the info....I'm across the bay in St. Petersburg, on a canal off Tampa Bay. The lower the draft, the better. I had discounted twins, but perhaps I'll put it back on the consideration list. I get nightmares thinking about trying to run an inboard single, particularly with the...

    Mainship Pilot 31/34

Thanks Tonic1.... What's your cruising speed with the twins, and what does your fuel efficiency look like? Is it anywhere near 2mpg? Also, how nightmarish is it access-wise, to service the twins? I've seen a couple of singles with stern and bow thrusters, but I have to imagine those require...

    Mainship Pilot 31/34

Gang, I have another question after some reading....It seems there's very little middle ground when it comes to the construction of these boats, either folks are happy with the build quality, or folks say they're atrocious. I suspect that most of the people talking down the brand have not been...

    Mainship Pilot 31/34

Thanks again everyone! Regarding the hard top version, are there certain years of the 31 and/or 34 that do not have the sliding side windows? Also, is there any reason to be concerned with coring issues? I believe I had read somewhere that the hard top version was susceptible to saturated...

Is an air conditioned pilothouse an option on either the 31 or 34?

    Mainship Pilot 31/34

Thanks a bunch for the input...Just to clarify, I'd leave my bay boat on the lift, and moor the Mainship. I can't see wearing noise cancelling headphones, as it takes away the "sounds" of being on the water. I know my express was pretty loud at the helm, and after 6-7 hours at cruise, it would...

    Mainship Pilot 31/34

New to the forum, but have read up on what's been posted about these boats and wanted some updated, perhaps more specific information. Quick background, in the past I've been a multi-boat owner, with a 31' Express (twin inboards) and a smaller center console, of one brand or another, in varying...
