    Holding tank vent smell

Ok that makes sense to me, I have had the vent blocked in the past due to heavy seas ans sloshing of «*poo*» so I will try flushing. I have only to this point uses LP air to clear the blockage but not flushed with fresh water. My tank is original so 13 years old now, is 35 gallons and I have...

    Holding tank vent smell

Thanks Peggy ? My bubble system does actually run 24/7 365 I have not turned it off since I installed it over a year ago. I did have initially a line that ran across the bottom with many holes to stir up and bubble the tank. Now that system lasted about a year but then plugged and corrosion...

    Holding tank vent smell

Hey everyone! I know this is not a new subject and have read many threads on the subject and made a few modifications to try and fix my issue but can’t seem to get there. I have a 2007 Mainship Trawler with the original 35G holding tank that has a saltwater flush system. I fully know that the...

    Canadian Energy Batteries

So it pays to shop around, I found Trojan for 189/each at another wholesale supply here in Victoria . I think I will go with them as they are the same price as the Canadian energy and have a better warranty

    Canadian Energy Batteries

Quick on here everyone... Unfortunately I need to replace my house bank so I want to move to 6V golf cart batteries (6 in series/parallel). I have price quotes and Canadian Energy seems to be the best price (190/each) vs 289 for Trojan and 220 for Interstate. I don't have experience with...

    NMEA Feed to VHF

Looking to see if anyone has found a Bluetooth GPS that also has a NMEA line out on it. I love my Garmin Bluetooth GPS for my iPad Pro but also would like to get a signal to my DSC Radio. Thanks Rob

    having an exclusively towed tender

On our longer trips I tow my 19' aluminum dive boat behind for all the reasons listed above but mostly for diving. We have a routine for berthing and the more my wife gets comfortable driving the tin boat the better it gets. I have had it in some snotty weather and so far no issues, I do run a...

Installed Balmar SG200 Battery Monitor in MS400

Hi everyone I have a question about these battery monitors. I just did a rebuild on my charging system and installed an amp meter which showed the output of the alternator. My thoughts were that I could see the state of my batteries by the output on the meter. Over the past few months I have...

    Mainship 390 bridge cap leak?

Yes something like that will be needed for sure as from what I can see it's quite a large seam and there is a lot of old calking to remove. Rob

    Mainship 390 bridge cap leak?

The access is not bad, just high up so I need to figure a ladder that’s will be stable enough or have the boat pulled out of the water which I would rather not do until next year.

    Mainship 390 bridge cap leak?

The only leaks I have seen are coming out of the vents at the stern so I assume water is getting in between the cap and the top of the main cabin if that makes sense.

    Mainship 390 bridge cap leak?

I am also considering the same thing on my 34’, I’m just wondering how to clean the old calking so the new will adhere to it and form a good seal. Mine is quite mouldy so simply scrubbing may not be good enough. Let us know how your repair goes. Thanks Rob

    Yanmar Fuel Shut off Solenoid

So I figured it out finally ? apparently you need to start with both the upper and lower switches in the off position. Then chose which position you plan on using and flash up from that station. As long as the one of the switches are in the off position then the other one will work as it should...

    Yanmar Fuel Shut off Solenoid

Ok so I have a new solenoid however that was not the issue as it’s doing the same thing (not shutting down). I did discover one thing however, if I disconnect the wire that supplies power to the fuel shutoff solenoid (purple one) on either of the switches (upper or lower helm) then the other...

    Yanmar Fuel Shut off Solenoid

Ok found the relay and there was quite a bit of corrosion around most of the terminals. I cleaned them up but no joy so I will try and source a new one and see if that’s the issue. Thanks again for your help. Rob

    Yanmar Fuel Shut off Solenoid

I will give that a try but when i cut power from the breaker panel or pul the plug locally at the solenoid it stops immediately every time. I will put a meter on it though and see what happens. The thing is that both the upper and lower helm are reacting exactly the same. That is why I was...
