    Aliexpress for inflatables/dinghys?

+1 for the Costco inflatable dinghy We purchased a Costco inflatable dinghy a couple years ago; at the sale price as recommended here on Trawler Forum. We installed a 9.9 HP Yamaha motor. Last summer was the first season of use; we have been satisfied. Not fancy but very functional and light...

What window bonding adhesive should I use?

We had to replace a frameless window (starboard pilot house side window) on our Carver 450 Voyager this passed August. We used the adhesive recommended by Carver. Dow Automotive-U-418 Beta Seal Glass Adhesive It has held up well so far. We purchased the window glass from a local glass...

    Victron MultiPlus Inver/Charger options?

Look at the feature content of both, analyze the specs carefully. Then have a drink and think about what would look cooler in your boat while you enjoy it or when its time to resell it. Then have another drink because these are good problems to have in life!

    Victron MultiPlus Inver/Charger options?

So our xantrex 3K inverter went toast in May and we replaced it with the Victron 3K inverter you are looking at. Victron has a great online forum for questions and very helpful folks if you ask them a question. I had some struggles on the controller aspect of what to do, and tried several...

    Very dirty shore electric cables

We use "Marine Strip" now renamed to "Boat Cleaner Pro". This was the only product that could clean our power cord. We do put a wax protectant on afterwards. We tried acetone but could only make one swipe and then needed to reapply. Marine Strip is much more effective for us.

Wifi device for monitoring AC power???

The method we us isn't as straightforward as what you are envisioning. When our Xantrex inverter had a meltdown earlier this Spring, we replaced it with a Victron Inverter/Charger. We also purchased a Victron remote module (Cerbo) that can provide us status updates on the system via WiFi; it...

    Carver... Good? Bad?

We have a Carver 450 Voyager Pilothouse with Cummins engines. We love, love, love our boat. Handles rougher water well, can go faster when needed but also very comfortable at "trawler" speeds. Our Carver has a full cover over the flybridge, lots of windage! However, the engines are powerful...

Need to Replace Shattered Side Window

Thank you for the replies. We still don't have a reply from the original window glass manufacture but we will be requesting a quote from Henderson glass.

Need to Replace Shattered Side Window

Uh oh! We shattered our side window made of safety glass.:banghead: When closing our side door one night just before a 4 day trip, the door edge caught the side of the frameless window glass and shattered it. We taped the window to keep it intact during the night then removed the shattered...

    Took a Ride Today

We were able to take the first cruise of 2020 yesterday. Michigan is finally open for recreational boating, although there are not many boats yet in our marina. We cruised from Lake St. Clair down the Detroit River passing downtown Detroit (Renaissance Center visible in the photo below) and...

Got Out For A While Again Yesterday

Beautiful Menzies! Thanks for sharing. We were able to launch our boat May 1 after the long winter storage (extended due to COVID 19). So happy to be back on the water. Hope to enjoy a day cruise tomorrow with a forecast of 71 degrees and sun!

    Waxing the brow?

We had the same problem this winter. Our boat is in inside storage. We used a ladder strapped across to both side rails and supported by a foam board. It was an ugly contraption but we got the job done (we hope). Haven't been able to get her out into the sunshine to see how well of a job we...

    Taiwan Overseas Custom 42

Congratulations! Wishing you a happy cruising season! It's still too cold here in Michigan to start cruising so the stay home order isn't affecting us yet. Hope we can all start cruising in May!

Short Video Tour of Your Boat Underway

Thank you OLOH crew. The video was beautiful and a much needed distraction. In Michigan we cannot get into the shed to work on our boat let alone launch it so we are so appreciative of your cruising videos and your blog. Stay healthy!

    Lost Propeller!

Sorry to hear about the lost prop. Did you have the diver check the integrity of the other prop to insure that doesn't also fall off and to maybe get some insight on how well the yard secured it?

And now for something a little different..Hire boat possibilities.

Perhaps one of the sites mentioned in this article on boats.com will give you some helpful information; I don't have any experience with them but it seems to address your interests: https://www.boats.com/resources/boat-sharing-and-peer-to-peer-boat-rentals/ - Peer to peer boat rental outfits...

    Hello from Michigan

Ouch! Yes, lots of fuel that day. It wasn't a very trawler-like voyage. Going forward we intend to only drive that fast if weather dictates it or we want to "clean out the carbon". Our intended cruising speed and the cruising speed we used for all our experience building day trips since then...
