    Interesting boats

We're between boats and so have signed up to be "Bumper Boat" drivers :) Chartered on for a week in August...will share our experience with the forum when done. They are single engine that drives a hydraulic prop, bow thruster, stern thruster and generator. Looks like the Admiral will not...

    Solar powered dehumidifier project

Dave, I used two Eva-dry Edv-1100 Electric Petite Dehumidifiers in my Mainship 34T for summer storage in FL. One in each of the sinks with a hole drilled in the tank and I had zero mildew anywhere in the boat. I would think one of these would work in the space you have. As we had shore power...

    Yachtworld Still Sucks

Hmmm....all the functions of the old advance search are included under "Filters"...even if you pick a state...if you click on it again you get specific cities within the state. Took a little getting use to but I still am able to search as I did before...no clue why they changed it.

    Mainship 34 Master Stateroom

We have an '08 34T and both of us fit in the berth...I'm 6'3". We did get a custom mattress for it from one of the vendors at a past Trawler Fest...they even had the mattress hinge so you could easily open the storage area under the foot of the berth. We did end up getting fitted sheets for it...

    MS 34 Trawler broaching

Dave...I have an '08 34T single engine and been doing the snowbird thing each year from CT to FL. Been caught in some big seas unintentionally (Jersey Coast, Martha's Vineyard, Gulf Steam back from Bahamas)...here's what we've learned to address this issue: - I have the Garmin AP ('10...

    Regarding boat bikes...

We went with Giant aluminum commuter bikes $300 or so....full size 7 gears ....can really cover a lot of ground. Starting year 3 and still working. Regarding corrosion I have become a bio shield believer....first day with bikes sprayed every inch of my bike....moved it down the dock to get the...

    St Augustine FL Inlet

I went through last Sunday ....decent swell from southeast but had an in coming tide so all went well. Channel/inlet is well marked and I favored the red side as the breakers right next to the green we’re a little close for my taste.

    Two micron secondaries?

First thing I added when we bought the boat 3 years ago was Tony's 2 stage filter system with vacuum gauges...boat had been onto hard for three years and did not want to take any chances with fuel gunk or hiring a polishing service. 1,300 hours later I'm very happy I did ...vacuum gauges allow...

Fisheries Supply Dehumidifier Sale on Now

This was the first time we stored the boat for the summer, in Chesapeake, VA. Set up two Everdry 1100's ...drilled a hole in the water container and put one in the galley sink and one in the head sink. Came back to the boat two weeks ago (3 1/2 months)...and not a spot of mildew. Could not...

    What Have You Dropped Overboard?

A one day old Giant aluminum commuter bike. After spending 30 minutes spraying every inch with T-9....moved to end of finger to do the admirals bike....heard a splash and was able race down and grab one of the handle bar ends just as it went under....net is two years later bike is in great...

Cummins QSB 5.9L Fresh water flush

I think 10 gallons works...I have a Y-valve with a 3 foot length of rigid hose...I fill two 5 gallon buckets...put the hose in one and as it is drawn down I pour the other bucket in and go turn the motor off. At the last service the tech said the inside of the cooler looked new. I like the...

    Hurricane Florence

Tom.B If you're still in Northwest Creek you're in good hands...I was there for Mathew and while each storm is different I was very impressed with the work the staff did to keep all safe. Key was running long lines for each boat across the fairway to pilings on the other side to keep boats in...

    34' Mainship prop size

I have a 2009 Mainship 34T single yanmar and it has a 4 blade....no cavitation issues. Oak's advice to check all things out first is the way I'd go. When we checked our prop at first haul out after purchase we found each blade has its own angle and some "pinkish" corrosion/etc. Had it tuned...

    Champlain Canal singlehanded

For the single mid-ship tie to work we used 18" x 29" taylor made inflatable fenders...much bigger than the normal docking fenders...when through with the locks we just deflated and stored. Cheers Bryan

    Wiper Blades for Mainship 400

I have an '09 34T and the wiper arms and blades were AFI (replaced all of them this past spring)...don't know if the 400 is the same. Cheers Bryan

    Champlain Canal singlehanded

We went through this summer using a mid-ship/cleat line next to the helm door and two very large inflatable fenders set forward and aft. All the locks had a pipe or wire inset in the wall and I would just loop the mid-ship line around the pole/wire. With gloves and a short boat pole, make sure...
