Chesapeake Bay members heading south late season

I agree about Jacksonville's downtown. Not much going on other than some hotels and office buildings. Its too bad there aren't more boating focuses amenities along the waterfront. I checked out a marina in Avondale the last time I was in town - Port 32 maybe? Seemed pretty nice and the little...

Chesapeake Bay members heading south late season

Thanks for all of your replies. Sounds like I may not be too crazy but shooting for early November is better than later. For those of you that make this trip later in the season, is it by choice? Or is it just what your schedule allows? If you had the option would you leave earlier? Like I...

Chesapeake Bay members heading south late season

Ranger58sb, How was Jacksonville for living aboard? My office is located in Jacksonville so I travel there quite a bit but only have time to see the office downtown. I thought it may be a decent option for basing the boat as well. I think it's protected enough from hurricanes and maybe far...

Chesapeake Bay members heading south late season

Any members stay on the Bay late into the season before heading south? Even as late as November? We now live in Colorado and hope to base a boat on the east coast in retirement for travels south in the winter (Keys, Bahamas, etc.) I'm wondering how late is too late to start heading south. For...

    Camano leaking fuel return manifold

Made the replacement using reversopumps.com. Couldn't have been easier. One-for-one swap.

    Dripless shaft seal?

I hope you're right. Will check it out. I love this boat even more as I dig into it.

    Dripless shaft seal?

I actually just replaced my bilge pump and you're right, it's a good thing I'm skinny. My surveyor noted that the pump turned on, which is nice, but didn't notice the hose nipple was broken clear off of the pump so it pumped water right back into the bilge. I see yours is a 2000. In my 2006...

    Camano leaking fuel return manifold

Fantastic, thank you! The one you link to is for oil but I found the one for diesel. This could be a whole lot easier than I was expecting. Possibly even a one-for-one swap. Thanks.

    Camano leaking fuel return manifold

I have a slow leak near my fuel return manifold on a 2006 Troll. The previous owner thinks it's coming from the manifold, not one of the fittings near the manifold. I think he's correct. The bottom of the manifold has a bolt which is sometimes moist with diesel. I attached a picture of the...

    Dripless shaft seal?

Chrisaensing, Thanks for the pics. I have a genset and was wondering how we'd eventually replace the shaft seal. Your're solution worked well?

    Update Raymarine E120/E80 with Navionics+

Good afternoon TF, Has anyone updated their E120/E80 with new Navionics+ charts? According to the Navionics site it looks like the new charts should work on these units. I'm interested to know if anyone has had any success or any issues with these new charts. My boat came with these older...

    Which Samsung Galaxy?

One possible thing to consider, if you wear polarized sunglasses, is how you plan to orient the tablet at your Nav station. I had a Lenovo Tablet that worked great with all my Navigation apps but I couldn't view the screen in portrait mode while wearing my sunglasses. I switched to a Samsung Tab...

Yellow piper...those mods look great. Thanks. Thanks for the recommendation on the Facebook group. I hadn't found that before.

    Camano Troll Galley Cabinet Ideas

We do have the oven. I don't know if we'll use it much. It came with a nice toaster oven too which we use most of the time. We love making pizzas at home so I could possibly see us using it for that. Having the oven does take up quite a bit if storage space.

    Camano Troll Galley Cabinet Ideas

We have a nautical clock and a barometer there but the clock stopped working. I'm thinking some more storage might be a good idea.

    Camano Troll Galley Cabinet Ideas

Sorry...was posting for other Camano owners but would love others' opinions as well. I don't have a pic at the moment but it's basically a 16"x16" space above the stove. This link may work for a similar boat... https://boatingfreedom.com/boats/Camano-Troll-7149520/#gallery-5

    Camano Troll Galley Cabinet Ideas

Hello, I posted this over on Camano Pacific as well but this forum seems more active. We're looking for ideas for the space above our galley stove. I'm thinking some type of teak storage unit for mugs and glasses. Has anyone found a storage rack/cabinet/shelf that they like and that fits well...

Any reason to choose Yanmar - Camano Troll?

The trip down was great. We ended up doing it in just 4 days. Started out with a great 2-day weather window so we did Haverstraw to Cape May in 2 days. The next day was pretty snotty on the Delaware Bay but we made it to Chesapeake City. Fourth day was Chesapeake City to Annapolis. Love the...

    Tablet Recommendation - Android, non-polarized

Thanks Psneeld, That's what I needed to hear. It seems like nothing is ever in stock anymore, or the store models are all dummy models, so I was hoping for some confirmation before I headed to Best Buy.

    Tablet Recommendation - Android, non-polarized

I read that some manufacturers (maybe Samsung) align the polarization at 45° so it can be viewed in landscape or portrait. Also, that it depends on weather the screen is LCD or another technology. I'm hoping to get some first hand confirmations because the specs don't mention this.

    Tablet Recommendation - Android, non-polarized

From what I understand, ipads have the same problem with polarized sunglasses. I have plenty of experience with apple but not interested in an iPad unless this solves my sunglasses issue. Can anyone confirm with their android tablet that they don't have an issue viewing in landscape and...

    Tablet Recommendation - Android, non-polarized

Hello TF, I'm looking for a new tablet as a backup to my Raymarine Chart plotter which I can no longer update. I currently use a few Android tablets that I've had laying around but I want to buy one specifically for the boat. One of the challenges with my current tablets (Lenovo) is the...

Travels of "Emma B" (JD powered Helmsman)

Congrats. You are living my dream. We just purchased a Camano Troll after cruising a couple of years on a 22 C-Dory. Love it. The Helmsman 38 is my dream boat in 10 years when we retire. Looking forward to hearing your experiences. (And please take good care of her...I may buy it off you in 10...

    Generator Water Lift Muffler banging

Update: I disassembled the water lift muffler today and found the central riser tube was melted closed. So that's definitely my problem.

    Generator Water Lift Muffler banging

Simi, does yours vibrate or make any movement at all? Or does it just passively sit there?
