    Grand Banks 32 Trucking Questions

A call to hauling companies can give you some details into this as well.

    Garmin 3210 Data Card needed.

agree to disagree, which is what forums are about, open dialog, but to think complaining on a widely used forum gets nowhere.. well that is where I disagree again, those looking to buy future systems will now be armed with the knowledge of Garmin's practices and look at possible alternatives, in...

    Garmin 3210 Data Card needed.

Since I'm in the IT field this is a very poor comparison. Comparing a $800 PC to that of a marine environmental HW system that costs thousands should not fall off support completely in a few years when a new production run starts. Indeed the company doesn't what to support forever, but I'm sure...

    Garmin 3210 Data Card needed.

This is the biggest down side of Garmin equipment, once unsupported you are SOL if something happens to it or need something, they really should have sold lic to a third party to provide that, its not like they are really profiting from those going out and buying am upgrade, for a chart area of...

To unobservant dummy, it is gonna cost ya

Fished out of Montauk for decades, can't say I have ever seen a person trolling rods in the inlet, once clear of the jetty's it's all open. Inlet is also not that big, especially with the shoaling on east side.

How to store boat when away?

not to high-jack the thread, but would be good information to it if those that have monitoring systems post what kind and the monthly service cost if any? Thanks!

    Plagiarism on ActiveCaptain

I have wrote in a review of an area that I was in years before, so not that uncommon.

How to store boat when away?

All good advise above, would add close all sea-cocks (and if difficult to close then change out now to high quality new ones). I'd put the hauling out point at 4 months or more, but that's just my opinion.

    CAT 31 Series Any Good?

any of the 31 series that are around today are ok provided proper maintenance is done and run correctly, the higher strung ones in sport-fisherman had some issues, but then again many companies struggled in that sector at one time or another. In a trawler I would have no issues with them.

Anybody got any creative methods of mounting a BBQ grill?

We also have the Magma's grill on a rod holder, very sturdy and stay's put, only down side is it can get salty. On long ocean passages we put it away. Now I'm not advocating Magma, I personally think the quality is acceptable, but not great by no means.

    Rag Bagger

Might want to look at the Mainship line, they have transom doors and lower helm stations along with walk around on some models. All the best!

Towing a Canoe at 6 Knots

When I first read the heading all I could think is "why?", its light why not even have it half in the cockpit etc. I will say other then that FF's comments also sound plausible.

    Yanmar Lifespan?

The upside is it made 4400 hours, would not have gotten that far if not properly maintained. Good engine survey with oil analysis should tell you the full picture.

    Smoking exhaust,

How long is travel time? Does the engines reach WOT rpms? I have also found for me buying Valvtec (sp?) fuel greatly reduces the residue on the back of the boat. Also depends on wind direction the amount of station wagon effect.

For Sale: Grand Banks 49' 1981 Classic.

What is the condition since you don't want to post a picture, price sounds very low so it has me wondering, or a few pic that would be worth a 1000 words.

    save the teak

unfortunately now magical solution that won't need to be redone and or make it slippery (don't ask me how I know), best suggestion would be to not over use harsh cleaners, I use a little dash of Clorox and Dawn in a pail of water and scrub across the grain, then just enjoy.

    Did I Wait Too Long

Tony Athen the boatdiesel.com guru calls for step filtering, which just so happens to be the cummins spec as well. I've seen plenty of people out engineer themselves by stating they have a 10 primary and a 10 secondary and state my secondary always looks great.... Have to remember the tigher...
