    What is in your freezer?

We probably pack somewhere in the 7 meal range for a 2 week trip plus full amount of non perishables. We tend to go out more for lunches and eat lighter for dinner, so the quantity of food is not as high as "full meals". Add in there rewards from fishing/clamming/mussels or passing a fish...

    Macerator pump failure?

By us between many pump out stations and pump out boats no need for a discharge pump, one less thing to go wrong...

    Cable TV Inlet Location

I agree with the above, adding an external jack is not the best setup, espcially in a salt water environment, we just found an opening under the gunnel to snake the cable up, then placed it coiled up in a wall door and when needed attached to TV, we used it mostly for watching the weather, but...

One whole week of boat ownership...more disaster!

All part of boat ownership. Not a big fan of leaving the AC on while not at the boat myself, a lot can happen when you are not there. Also contact the fuel dock, I've seen them pay for issues like this, then ask around where people get gas/diesel and have had no problems. I only go to places I...

    Dinghy hoisting

Trying to understand what isn't so good about the setup, too much effort to lift, or too complicated?

Wave Slap Noise in Forward Bunks, 42LRC

I've witnessed different degrees of slap noise, in some cases in a larger boat then mine they put in larger chines which trapped more water/noise. We have it, but after 18 years have grown to like it, actually sleep better with just that little slap.

    Land Budget vs Cruising Budget

I think we need some more details, planning on staying at marina's, like eating out or cooking at home/boat. Planning hull or displacement. I think Bay Pelican hit on the key higher cost items, but the other part is how do you plan to use it. Not much cost in getting an old boat with gas...

2005 Mainship 430 Aft Cabin Trawler – Galvanic Isolator

If you are staying in fresh water you really don't need it in my opinion.

Sea Wise davit pads pulling away from dinghy

Same method is used on Weaver davits as well, so maybe a google search on that name will yield some additional information. Pad's coming off is not unheard of, I've personally glued on a number of rafts (mine and friends) and never had one come off, but have seen them, the only thing I could...

Looking for some cruising advice NYC

Did it MANY years ago and nice experience going in and seeing everything, fireworks were amazing with the city and all, but when it was done, OMG all hell broke loose. So my advice is not be in that area with your own boat period.

    Leaking Fuel Tank

Check in the back of fishing mags, our local weekly has a bunch of guys listed, look at a tackle shop for one, better if you can drop off old one to be copied. Also now is the time to assess where the sender gets mounted, had mine moved for easier accessibility also has a manual gauge you can...

    Leaking Fuel Tank

I agree with those that say replace. We have marine tank builders in our area, pull tank, drop off and they will make it exactly the same within a week. DONE!

    universal outboard company

Not sure of this company directly, but when I contacted a reputal outboard sales website about matching the price they pointed out where the company came from and it wasn't the USA, so risk factor goes way up.

    Boat name hidden by dink

Never dinged over 20 years with "covered name" , don't get me wrong, I think its a good idea putting it on the bottom the dingy, just ours in in the water a lot, meaning needs a good hard scrubbing, or driven up on the beach for the dog.

    Portable Ice Maker

I will say this about those table top ice makers, one they are not made all that great, so if your boating is more open water/bumpy not the best thing and the ice is a relative word, soft light ice is more like it. They were all the rage 6 years ago, not one person has them anymore, all of...
