    Blisters

Hello all. 1981 GB 36. Hauled yesterday for survey. Multiple blisters ranging in size from 1" to 4". Surveyor believes that the larger ones are into the glass. Thoughts.......

Thanks for the Semco link cj. This is definitely worth considering. There are a few end edges that need to be refastened. Once that is accomplished I could clean and use the Semco elastomeric sealer. That could buy me some time before the inevitable. Plus have some funds for electronics updates.

    Awesome Great Loop Vlog

    Teak decks

Had the privilege of maintaining teak decks on an 81' Trumpy for several years. Came with the mates job. Along with varnish and paint. And then there were the 12/71s and 2 gen sets. Had a great time. 'Course I was a little younger then. The Cal 2-27 was my first liveaboard in Annapolis MD...

    finally

Welcome. I/we are also looking into our next adventure. While I have boating experience, my wife has limited. With that in mind we have chosen a Grand Banks 36. Will be getting used to the boat yhis season and, if all goes well, head off to loop next season. Will be based out if Crisfield MD on...

    Teak decks

Kiwigrip is what I would go with. I have an email in to James Taylor at Atlantic Yacht in Chesapeake so we will see. I would like to think I could tackle removing the teak. I did not feel any soft spots. The teak is down to about 1/4" with some places thinner. Hoping to cut into the labor bill.

    Teak decks

Maybe I am confusing the search function with too much detail as I am looking to remove and glass and nonskid. Search came back nothing found. So most likely oprrator error. Boat is in Chesapeake VA. Survey on the 28th. Engine and genset on the 29th. I will attempt myself but stuff happens...

AC when away from the boat

My old Cal 2-27 had a molded keel with ballast in the fore end and about 18" in the bottom. That left about 24" bilge depth. Mounted pump and switch to 2" aluminum strap that lowered to bottom of keel. Also a manual in cockpit. My soon to be GB 36 has rule just forward of engine and manual at...

    Teak decks

Has anyone removed them? According to the web...... GB did not start gluing them til early '90s. '81 going to survey and I would take them off (as they are passed due) and apply nonskid.

    Getting back in after 35yrs

Yep. Retired after driving truck for 35 years. Grew up in Annapolis MD. Crewed on an 81' Trumpy for a few years traveling the east coast. Lived aboard my Cal 2-27 for several years before sailing down to FL. So now I am retired and wife and I are looking to Loop. Main residence in FL. Summer on...
