    Brass rubbing strips

There's nothing that will last, and will be a bitch to get off once the brass tarnishes underneath. I'd recommend sticking with trying to keep a bell polished for a while before you tackle a rub rail project.

    $$$$$$$$$$$$$

Boat/US provides the same services, from escrow to title search, etc. Very cost effective.

    Man Overboard Drills.

One ring is on the aft deck, one is on the fly bridge, and a Lifesling is on the Starboard side of the pilothouse.

If the professor could make a radio out of a coconut, why couldn't he patch a hole in a boat?

    Booster rocket O-Rings

Read a very interesting report by an ex-NASA rocket scientist. The problem wasn't just hte O-rings, it was the back and forth torque developed by the entire assembly. If you've ever noticed, they light off the three engines on the shuttle before the fire off the SRB's (solid rocket boosters)...

    Man Overboard Drills.

Keep in mind that the MOB function on electronics will only take you back to where you pushed the button. Practice, practice, practice! Lose anything overboard on my boat and we will do a man overboard drill. My crew was shocked to see me go back for a little cooler that fell off the aft deck on...

    Bow Thruster vs Stern Thruster

It will, as long as it's big enough. I got Wesmar to spec one for my boat, then went to the next largest size. It's a 24 volt system and has never let me down. Don't go too small because it's better to have too much power than too little. Wesmar now makes a line of continuous duty electrics...

    New Year Party Kemah

I do pretty much every year. It's a lot of fun, a lot of parrotheads in attendance. I hope I can make it this year, but stuck in New York for now doing disaster recovery work. Highly recommended! You'll have to be a little agressive in meeting people, because most of the crowd knows each other...

Christmas Boat Parade Pre-Party - Clear Lake

I hate to bring bad news, but the boat parade party for this year has been cancelled. I am still up in NY working on the Hurricane Sandy disaster, and my company won't let me come home at all. HOpefully next year.

Ick. Stick with an Electrosan or similar, or just a holding tank.

    Nautical terms

Saloons were areas on ships. Later on, bars decorated nautically, and picked up the term. It was only when women becaue major decision influencers that boat sellers adopted the term "salon".

    Engine Room Fire Suppression

It's well known that electronics run on smoke. If the smoke gets out, they quit working.

Hi All – I’m new to the Forum…

Sweet! Welcome to the forum. I've been up to Poulsbo a few times for the TrawlerFest that they have there. Excellent crab cakes! That's a great get-together you should really attend, since it's in your back yard.

If you boat near any locks this might be of interest to you.

This is going to affect us near Galveston. With all the commercial traffic in the area, this should be fun. Once they open on the hour, my guess is they will be open/working until the next hour, and so on...

Hell, no! For more reasons than I care to list. You'd be better off bareboat chartering.

    Propane Bottle Location Requirements

Pit beef all over Texas. Some over 100 years old. Now that's a nice cure! Just have to find them in the small, old towns.
