I installed a high water alarm in my upper bilge area. I would not likely hear the one integrated with the automatic bilge pump, which only sounds at the lower helm. The new alarm only sounds at the upper helm.

For what it's worth, I deliberately flooded my lazarette floor to see if the water would run forward to the bilge between the engines, which it did. Of course, when underway this would not be the case.

If your MFD can handle the hockey puck, stick-on style, I think it's a good option. Mine is 2012 Raymarine E-120 Wide screen so I had to figure out which product was compatible. There can be no voids (air) in the hull where you locate it.
