    Missing Coolant - CAT 3208

It’s also possible you have a leak in the water heater coil. Also you may wish to buy a head gasket leak tester. About $20 on Amazon to give you peace of mind about the head gaskets.

GB 36 propane locker update advice

My 1988 42 classic had an electronic shut off installed nothing inside. I had an older 32 that had the manual interior valve. Seat locker scuppers on front and back of the seat locker next to the outer wall served both as scuppers and locker vent. Since propane is heavier than air it would not...

I like to entertain, fish, and overnight. Is the GB 32 sedan good for this?

Trolling Speed Don’t know how you fish but slower troll speed not possible for me. Engine idling gave me 3 knots when I needed 1.5. In and out of gear hard on tranny. You will need a trolling valve on tranny if serious about fishing the boat.

    Engine anode

Anode removal I had the same problem. Anode is left sitting in the cooler. Easy solution. Get an old anode holder and grind or file the exterior threads off. It’s then easy to thread this modified holder onto the anode and pull it out. ?

Unresolved problems with Cummins QSB 6.7 liter engine

Sounds like a similar problem a friend had with his CAT. Fuel tank is below the engine and fuel is pumped up to engine. Apparently when shut down a valve in the Raycor allowed the fuel to drain back into the tank leaving a vacuum in the line which went away when primed. Not sure if there is such...

Zincs get stuck in the coolers

Stuck zincs One solution is to grind the exterior threads off a cap so it can be threaded onto the stuck zinc and pulled out. This works well if you don’t jostle the zinc after finding it has come unscrewed. Has saved by bacon many times.

    Boat Insurance 1994 Vessel

Boat Insurance I have Markel on my 1988 GB 42. Have home, auto and umbrella with USAA. They would write the umbrella only if I carried Markel on the boat. They must think highly of it. No claims for 4 years so all is good. :)

    Algae growth in window track

Hi Guys. We have green stuff growing in our GB42 sliding window tracks and can’t seem to defeat it. Has anyone come up with a toxin that would solve the problem? Thank you

    AIS and enforcement

Law Breakers This entire discussion is absurd. Obey the law and you have nothing to worry about. If you don’t like a law there are ways to change it thru Marine Trade and yacht club organizations.

    Fresh Water on-board

Water Tanks My gb42 has 3 tanks 2 100 gals and one 60. All interconnected and I draw from a manifold. Use all three tanks, never a problem. But if you are using that much water you should install a hose connection with a pressure regulator that will allow you to by pass the tanks and water...

    Upsizing a V belt on a FL 120

Alternator Belt I am using a single 1/2 inch belt on a 1000 amp balmar alternator with no problem. Propane issue

Propane Going back to the beginning. Make sure the breaker switch on the electrical panel for gas stove is on. Then, when you turn LPG control panel on you should hear a click as the solenoid is activated. If no click you have an electrical problem or solenoid issue.

Suggestions for pulling anchor without windlass?

Anchor retrieval I have tried using a ball to retrieve my anchor and chain. It worked well. You have to have a ring of sufficient size to go around the shackle that connects chain to anchor and will slide down anchor shaft. Break out anchor as usual then place ring around chain and connect to...
