    Rust removal

This is not making any sense. If the pulleys are submerged in a liquid and voltage is being applied to them, why is not every thing that is submerged being cleaned? Why can't the liquid reach the groves?

    Windlass

Next time it does it , look in the chain locker and see if the chain is all piled up high right where it drops down. That will cause it to jam up for sure.

Unless you are married. She might get the new boat in the divorce.

    Raw water motor flush

Is this a new to you boat? Does it seem to be pumping out as much water out the exhaust as usual? If not may need the raw water impeller changed. It could very well be the thru hull, especially if there is a hull strainer on the out side of the hull. Critters can take up residence there and...

    Maiden Voyage Questions

You sound very capable to me. To bad about the previous owners as it is always nice to be able to ask them questions. You will probably feel a little anxious the first few days but it will get better as the days go by. Just pay attention and practice good situational awareness.

    Lehman 135 Heat Exchanger

You could check them by removing them and taking to a radiator shop and pressure checking. They will connect a air hose to it and submerge in a tank to check for air bubbles.

Replace old style wiper arms with pantographic?

I changed mine on our Defever two years ago. Best upgrade I have done. I found what I needed at Grainger Industrial Supply, and at a much better price than the marine stores. They have dry arms (used without a windshield washer) and wet arms ( used with a windshield washer system). I used a...

It pays to read the manuals

I have spent a boat load of money by not reading the manual close enough on a previous boat. Developed a "miss" in one of the Cat engines. Started out by changing the fuel filter as we had just made a rough crossing, but did no good. The next day limped into port and had a diesel mechanic...

What really is so called "teak oil"?

Just ran across a interesting article about what is really in many of the teak oils on the market and why they don't work. www.popularwoodworking.com/flexner-on-finishing-woodworking-blogs/teak-oil-what-is-it/

    Day Dreaming Northern BC

We came back down Principe Channel on year. Very worth while. Saw one other boat in two days. One thing to be aware of though, I have never seen so much drift wood in the water and on the beaches. It all comes down that river just south of Prince Rupert (Skeena?) and flows out to sea via...

    Let’s talk about fenders....

This is what was on this boat when we got her and they seem to be working just fine. There are four on each side, all mounted at the same height, the fenders all have the same length line, so you can grab any fender and clip it on any eye. When not in use I store the fenders on the forward...

What the heck am I doing wrong

Is the problem you can't stop the pulley from spinning or the bolts are just spinning in the pulley and not backing out?

    crossing into Canada with covid-19

Here is what was recently posted on the PNW Yacht Owners Facebook page: AMERICAN BOATS IN CANADA BACK TO USA. A Canadian tow boat just pulled into the slip next to Mary Pearl at Cap Sante in Anacortes. Shortly after leaving he returned with a US Customs agent. They are ferrying US vessels...

San Juan Islands - Verizon coverage?

I had Verizon for several years but switched to T-Mobil this year. Getting much better cell service and internet service. Never could get service in Reid and poor service in Prevost . I can now get good service about half way out of Reid ( out by the Coast Guard buoy), and good service in...

    Type A ATF

It has been many years since they made type A. It was used in all the GM cars. Than it changed to Dexron. Type F was used in all the Ford vehicles. You could call Harbor Marine in Everett Wa. Ask for the transmission rebuild shop and ask what they recommend.

Are you asking how to get the new boat to troll slow enough? If so research installing a trolling valve in your transmission(s). Then you can troll slower with out lugging down the engine(s)
