    Dinghy Issue

Yep, that's how I did mine. The factory cables are only long enough if your battery is right back with the engine, mine is up front. Had to splice in more cable to reach. Now you know for next time.

    Need insight - epoxy filler

What you need is some penetrating epoxy. There is a local company called Smith I believe that many of the boat stores carry. (Fisheries should have it). It has the consistency of water and will flow easily into the wood or whatever is the core material is on your boat. Maybe get some small...

Stern Tie line - BC coastal & area

Ventana: I'm with you. We just avoid anywhere where a stern tie is necessary. There was one on the boat when we bought it but has never been used.

New pastime while in self quarantine on the boat

For the past three years we have been carrying around a hummingbird feeder so Tuesday we decided to set it out. Put it out at 10:55 am and had our first customer at 11:00 am. Been up hill ever since. Have had to refill several times already. Sometimes there are up to 8-10 at a time. These...

    Questions before listing a boat

Westiculo; Are you sure you want to sell the boat? The first paragraph of your post says "thinking about listing our boat" and "might be ready to move into a house". Like everyone is saying, you really need to remove all of your "stuff" and get the boat staged to sell. You go on to say...

Purchase of trawler from private seller

I would find a marine escrow service and hire them to do the paper work for you. They will do the necessary leg work to make sure everything is on the up and up. You really don't need a broker at this point if you have already made a deal with the owner. He would just turn over the paper work...

    Transmission Paint

You probably should clean up that diesel before you paint it. Something that does not leave a film behind.(brake cleaner works good, no film, dries fast)

    heat choices

Hydronic heat can be plumbed into your hot water tank (need the correct type of tank), and into your main engine(s) Also keeps the engine room nice and toasty all winter. Also only need to run small diameter heater hose instead of large 3"-4" hot air ducting.

    Restoring running lights?

You can polish them up with Mequires plastic polish. I did mine two years ago.

A question for couples who cruise.

Unless it is a very small pilot house there will always be seating for others. We can seat four people directly behind the helm and everyone will have good visibility.

    Laundry

You will find many different types of machines. The older ones use quarters, some use tokens that must bought in one of their vending machines. The newer ones use credit cards.

    Canvas cleaning

3/4 cup bleach 1/4 cup mild laundry detergent (I use Deft) 1 gallon of water I use a sponge that is covered with a nylon mesh (like a bug sponge) Rinse thoroughly and let air dry. I find that it may look like this is not working but as it dries you will see the mildew disappear.

What if you hit this at near WOT speed??

Those kind things are pretty common place in the Pacific Northwest. Especially bad when the rivers run high and dump lot's of junk into the sound, or when we have very high tides (king tides) in conjunction with a wind storm that will suck really big logs off the beach. That's why I never ever...

Anyone cruising in BC now ?

If you are now in the US, I wouldn't worry about it. Unless of course you can convince them that it is essential you go across the border.

    Norther Lights cooling system problem

I cant imagine that everything would be fine but the cooling system is blocked. What did you open to drain it? Did you open the coolant reservoir cap so it would drain faster? If you were draining from the heat exchanger there might be two drain cocks, for for the fresh water and one for the...
