Help- Cheoy Lee LR MY 66' 1985

You have a great vessel. Here’s a link to a 54’ Cheoy Lee that has been extensively upgraded, and I’m sure documented. Jim’s Tech Talk videos covering their onboard systems many be useful to you. https://www.cruisingseaventure.com

    Trawler Spotting - 2023

For your winter enjoyment - Azteca - a trawler that apparently has been anchored and decaying in Zihuatanejo Bay. 50 - 55’ I’d say. The Pilothouse says “Bill Garden” to me. Any opinions? PNW build, maybe in steel? Might have to hire a panga to get a better photo.

    Converting sailboat to powerboat

I submit that there’s a stronger case for converting small sailboats to low hp (perhaps even electric) trawlers. These pics are of my “Covid” project. I found a ‘new’ hull, molded in the 70’s for a 21’ sailboat. I built it from the gunwales up. Marine ply and epoxy added about 250 lbs above...

    Voyager for sale

That is INTRINSIC, hull #34 at Tod Inlet, BC. She’s a fine little ship that draws attention wherever we go.

    Uship.com

My experience with UShip in 2021 was negative. After paying a $1000 deposit in June I waited for months with no pickup, no communication, and no refund. Investigate their reviews, you’ll discover a lot of folks with the same negative experience. Ultimately, I shipped my Willard 30 from...

    Sidney BC surveyors & insurance

I used Ken for my survey of Intrinsic in 2008. Dr. Death the brokers call him. Thorough to the point where he kills some deals - but that is exactly what I wanted, a detailed critique of the boat, with a good list of recommendations. Use him. You'll get straight answers. As for Insurance, I use...

    Tung hwa clipper v-berth

Sounds like the front of your fuel tank would be in line with the stuffing box. It would relatively easy to get a big rectangular tank down into that space. Your tank is probably 2'X2'X5'? My fuel tanks are about 12" outboard of the stringers. The aft end lines up with the back of the Lehman...

    Tung hwa clipper v-berth

On my 1981 Tung Hwa Clipper, the large space below the vee berth is accessible storage. Access is via port and starboard doors, and hatches in the "step" and forward below the cushions. There is also access via two doors above and forward, to the chain locker. While it is unlikely that the...

    salon doors

An easy, short term fix for worn out rollers on those teak sliding doors is to use sections of nylon or UHMW furniture sliders that you find at home depot. These sliders come in various sizes. The one I selected was about 2" long X 3/4" wide. Light grey in color. First step is to clean the...

The start of a nice project (clipper 30ft)

    Lien Hwa Sea Horse

I agree - Don't be embarassed. She'll make you pay in the long run! I bought a creampuff and She still demands a lot of care and feeding. Incidentally, I offered $25K for Sea Turtle in Idaho in 2007. With a little patience in a hot market, I would have gotten her for under $29. The one in...

    Lien Hwa Sea Horse

Hello Chris, When I went looking for a Willard or Fales, I found myself looking at Taiwan sedan trawlers from Sausalito to Lake Pend Oreille, Idaho, and Seattle.*I have been aboard a number of these boats, and regardless of the name they are virtually identical. Some had the 4cyl & others (like...
