    Quick question “what if?”

Thats my thoughts yes. It's the response you gotta train for. Power down turn asses. Great! I've turned into a heavy list more times than I can remember.. Rule: if the boat lays over, steer to the low side.

A calm beautiful day. Cruising at 3/4 throttle, Your offshore from land all alone. guests are loungin with drinks when, suddenly your boat heals sharply to port. Your wife spill from her upper chair, guests shriek, Things slide off tables, water is up to your dock buoys, the port rail dipping...

    Interesting boats

So many factors effect a boats behavior. If your vessel is overwhelmed from behind you will have to rely on my things you can’t control. Center of boyancy, center of gravity, bow shape and weight, if she’s balanced or not on the ends etc. angle of the overtaking seas, your speed, on and on. If...

    Interesting boats

Yes, tolerance are loose probably for that reason, with no prop in front of this rudder, propwash does not effect steering. It actually one of the factors in the boat cruising so smooth, no turbulent water over the rudder ( no vibration)

UOTE=Art;1003073]t c - Your boat has my heart! In regard to your many experiences... How does she track in slow forward speed, respond in reverse and handle during following seas?at 61 tons I idle in neutral a lot in close quarters and she responds just fine down to a knot. I want to add a jog...

Going strait, 8-9 knots, the auto pilot adjusts in very small amounts. I suspect a one degree rudder angle is accentuated by the tail flap: video of the rudder in action. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-pHCNJheWfSyHM_AU278Sdu13nwzIKbA

Similar 58’ William Garden, built 1952. Single articulating fishtail rudder, twin Lugger’s 165hp each, 30” wheels. Steadiest on track boat I ever steered. Quiet, no fuss, slippery

    dry vs wet exhaust

https://youtu.be/HkCvb7QLsAQ Dry exhaust, raw water cooled twin Luggers. This is the day I bought the boat, the owner has mesh caps for start up, otherwise, I love the sound.

So well said, I agree 100%. If I ever read Passegemaker magazine I would never have to my boat. Fashon and current trends make for the desire to trade up notice the next Range Rover outfitted for the Serengeti at Safeway, hauling kids to the soccer game. The current line of...

    Painting Outboard

I could have had it professional sprayed for $250, buy a new cowl for $650 or a $10 rattle can from Yamaha. Not factory finish, but good enough for my uses?

    Rolling Chocks

Cost...my $3 million 123 foot boat came with rolling chocks brand new. The boats you point out all have paravane options. Maybe they designed boats that don’t need them...better yet maybe the $150k for an electronic stabilizer has a better ROI? Using a big boatbuilders (who design to marketing...

    Rolling Chocks

William Garden drew small rolling chocks for my boat in 1950(I’ll find the drawing) and the drawing notes say “do not attach to frames”

Roling Chocks on the 123' I drove for many years in the Bering Sea, all the boats have them.

    Rolling Chocks

They did! As a greenhorn on a 72 Oregon Shrimper I had to deploy and retrieve paravanes. It was pretty tough. I never like them after that...but maybe I am a better deck and now than 1976..:-)

    Painting Outboard

I painted my 70 hp Yamaha with Yamaha spray paint. Comes in a rattle can, after a few coats it came out good. They have decals as well.

    Forward Slope Pilot House Windows

All work boats in Alaska from 25' to 200' have forward sloping windows. We gave up on wipers a long time ago (kept getting them tore off) Rain-x before every 3 day trip worked great.

    Rolling Chocks

One of my long term projects is to work on the roll of my boat. with 6.5 draft round hull and 61 tons displacement, I know she can get to rolling. I tell the passengers how smooth the roll is, but I still would like to dampen it a bit. As a retired Alaska Fisherman we NEVER heard of mechanical...
