Fuel Contamination (and Racor Filter Help)

different model than mine, reason i asked is i just changed the fuel lines from tank to racor, inevitable a small amount of air enters the racor assembly. I poured fuel in the top of the racor and also opened the valved to fill the new hose with fuel before attaching to the racor, believe i...

Fuel Contamination (and Racor Filter Help)

Al, surprised that you (as I know you are a pilot who do preflight checks) missed this hole in the fuel filler cap - good stuff getting her safe in "port" on one engine and its good to see you are enjoying life. Regarding the rough weather, did you take green over the bow or just splashing?

3208 Oil change - adaptor for drain?

yeah, that is very nice system. there is no ball valve or other type switch, just a hose coming from the bottom of the oil pan with a threaded connector (with a cap nut mounted), i just cant seem to find the adapter for this connector, threaded perhaps 1/2 inch.

3208 Oil change - adaptor for drain?

How are you all doing? Well I hope. I decided to change engine oil on my 3208's. It appears to be an easy task. The is a hose coming out from the oil pan to drain the oil from, it is threaded, guessing around 1/3 inch or so. I went to west marine and all they have are dipstick tube drain pumps...

Time for new batts, should i go 12v or 6v?

it sounds as if there are different types of isolators and combiners and also combinations of both, i think as long as we know how these switches work then we are all the better off. so i speak to my mechanic, he has I should consider one of two options: 1. switching all batteries over to...

Time for new batts, should i go 12v or 6v?

there may be different types of combiners but mine works the way that batt banks are combined until the voltage drops below a certain threshold, i use an ACR from blue sea. so in fact most times when the batts are somewhat recently charged the banks are combined until the start buttoned is pushed..

Time for new batts, should i go 12v or 6v?

i believe the combiner separates the banks when start button is pushed, this helps to protect housebank and related electronics.

Time for new batts, should i go 12v or 6v?

thats what i have, two banks which combine when charging and combine when using or inverting but only down to a V threshold, then the switch separate the two systems so that the cranking bank is not run down. i think if i get the same type batts (ie agm), then i can replace one bank at the...

Time for new batts, should i go 12v or 6v?

i think i just answered one of my own questions, since both banks are charged from the same charger, i cannot mix AGM and wet cells, they have different charge settings..duh.

Time for new batts, should i go 12v or 6v?

I did not design this system, but basically the two banks are connected through a bluesea switch, i think it is a pretty good set up. One bank is mainly for cranking, the other for "house". But do i really need 2 x 8D's just for cranking? ofcourse through the blue sea switch, the batts are also...

Time for new batts, should i go 12v or 6v?

I currently have two banks, each bank consist of 2 12v D8 AGM's. The time has come to replace one of these banks, my questions goes: 1. Would it be an advantage to use 4 x 6V batts, golfcart type or agm? Obviously they are easier to carry and install, other advantages? Recommendations on 6V or...
