    Anchor-rope -with chain

Obviously... but ok, other than letting the anchor and the proper ratio of rode down, how does one SET the anchor properly?

    Snubbers

are you saying to use the snap shakel in lieu of the chain gripper plate? or to attach the snubber to the boat's bow eye? i guess the latter..

    Anchor-rope -with chain

(i am revisiting anchoring so bear with me for pulling up these older posts but since i am finding really valuable information...) how many anchors do you need? main anchor is a 35lbs CQR with 300ft of 5/16 chain. but also have a couple "spare" anchors keeping in storage. so the question...

    Snubbers

anyone know where to get the chain plate or chain grabber? i dont see it at WM and the above link is dead.. or perhaps something somewhat easy to rig on your own? consider we dont want to be handing too much over the bow to attach this thing to the rode, so easy to deploy and easy to retrieve...

i guess we are we talking 12V amps? in that case 10 - 15 amps aint much. btw, for what it is worth, i have a xantrex charger/inverter and it works well, no complaints from here...

    vessel security

the marina we are currently in have a lot of security, you really can only gain access to the docks if you have the electronic key card (i have tried) unless you swim or gain access from the waterfront. we do lock the boat but have to admit we often leave fishing poles and other equipment on the...

    PROJECT: Streaming music wirelessly

what means this A2DP? i use an app called tuninfm but it only works if you are in wifi or have cell signal. in my car i run it over BT but in the boat and at home i just use an aux input.

    Alternator Power

you might check if perhaps you have any sort of automatic switch installed between the alt and batts. a bluesea switch could possible cause all charging going into the start batts and not the house batts.

    Partnerships?

I was talking to a friend of mine the other day. He said if he was to ever own a boat, it would be a partnership as he felt he could not "afford" to pay a captain to maintain a boat on his own and my friend did not want to spend all his free time up-keeping his boat but rather enjoying it.. Our...

    New Countertops

that looks really good, well done... i cant help thinking why would anyone put granite or even tile counter tops in their trawler / boats. but then again, I have wood butcher block in my house kitchen, so i am biased.

    Reasonable or Nit-Pickey?

lolz agree with you there Art, I think a lot of us boat people are somewhat free thinkers and dont care much for government how to run our business.

    Reasonable or Nit-Pickey?

*While "seaworthy/legal" requirements might hold water (no pun intended) for a stronger negotiating stance...they hold no power over the seller to fix...there is no requirement to disclose/fix like in real estate so I would negotiate big ticket items long before a measly bilge pump or expired...

    Reasonable or Nit-Pickey?

certain items are required to be considered seaworthy/legal, I would highly recommend you ask seller fix those as part of the transaction. Bottom paint and canvas - well that comes along with a used boat.

California recreational (fishing boat) overturns - 4 (all onboard) drown.

Carey, I agree wholeheartedly HOWEVER these guys were in 50-55 degree water which leave you with 1 - 2 hours awake and 2 - 4 hours alive, unless you have a really good PFD and or ability to contact CG, then you are still screwed (excuse my french). Dont get just any PFD, get a really really...

California recreational (fishing boat) overturns - 4 (all onboard) drown.

yes it is very sad indeed, sometimes accidents do happen and there is just nothing to be done about it. however we can learn from this, there is no doubt i am going to have a second look at a lifevest possible with epribs. there are speculations either a whale breached on the boat or they came...

Will you be a boater for the rest of your life?

*I had to wiki that one, although I have viking blood I was not completely sure the entire meaning of that term. As it turns out, a viking chief is cremated in his longship (on land) together with his slaves and other belongings (to enjoy in the afterlife).
