    OA 50 Mk 1

Agreed on all points! I appreciate your thoughts. I kinda wish I was in a position to get serious, but I'll have to wait. Scott & Malina

    OA 50 Mk 1

Well, I’ve just returned a few days ago from looking at the OA 50 Mk 1 mentioned in my first post. Firstly, I want to say I had an absolute wonderful time during my visit to Atlantic Yacht Basin. For those that don’t know, it’s an old yard, approximately 80 years old and family run from what I...

    OA 50 Mk 1

No worries, I appreciate the warning, but the broker knows clearly that this is a "look only" situation. I'm not in the position to buy right now being overseas and all. I really need to see what these OAs look and feel like in person. I like this vintage and later 80s MK1 models, but I've not...

    OA 50 Mk 1

Peter, I'm with you on that. I mean I don't like the formica either, but I still have it in my dirt home too...lol! Not the marble faux, but formica none-the-less. I think she's a good looking boat as well, but as you may agree, pictures often paint a different picture than the real McCoy. In...

    OA 50 Mk 1

Very true...I know nothing about them OAs either, but I plan to post what I learn from the visit. Scott and Malina

    OA 50 Mk 1

Very true! Thanks for the perspective. Interesting about the decks a few folks have pointed out, I never noticed until I re-looked. Only topside (bridge and forward decks) had been painted/coated over. Will be interesting to see it in person. Scott and Malina

    OA 50 Mk 1

Brian, Thanks to you as well for taking the time to provide your points to consider, very helpful. I agree 100% with your thought process. Scott and Malina

    OA 50 Mk 1

Bnoft, "the faux marble panels would need to go." The admiral's sediments exactly...lol! I can appreciate a change in that area too. Thanks for your feedback as well. Scott and Malina

    OA 50 Mk 1

Aquabelle, Very reasonable assessment, I appreciate the points. I too think it's a bit overpriced for the age, but I'm kind of looking at the comments mentioned to help me assess a reasonable (what would I give scenario) for this boat. Again, many thanks for your time. Scott and Malina

    OA 50 Mk 1

Ted, All good points to consider, I appreciate the reply and info. I do think (at least according to the write up) that there are washer and dryer installed under the galley counter, awkward place I suppose, but I don't know what choice there is to these vessels regarding WD installation...

    OA 50 Mk 1

Good day all, I plan to have a look at this boat in a couple weeks just to get an idea of her in person. 1979 "50" Ocean Alexander Pilothouse MK 1 Power Boat For Sale - Any likes or dislikes, things to look out for, etc... about the OA 50 Mk1's in general? Personally, I like the looks and...

    Insurance for Steel Hulls

Good day all, It's been a while since reporting, but we are still in the research and asking questions phase. Looking forward to getting back to the good ole US of A next year. In any case, if you all would entertain one of my questions that I've not been able to find and answer to, I would...

    Any Novatec Owners here?

No, not yet. We're still in the looking and research phase. Should be ready to pull the trigger in a couple years. We haven't decided for or against the Novatec style. I know of all the boats we've seen, I can say that a stand up ER is on the shortlist. So, I do not know if the Novatec will...

Yeah, they used to have a real nice Polynesian restaurant. I also used to work part time there doing valet parking. It's probably the same place, the restaurant used to sit right there on the Indian River with a nice view looking out at it. The place was sold after Mr. E passed in 87' (I believe).

Welcome to the forum, we too are just joining this forum as well. My wife and I grew up in Stuart (Jensen Beach and Palm City to be exact). We moved around a bit when I was young, but all right there in Stuart area. We have some extended family still there. I graduated from MCHS. If you have...

    Any Novatec Owners here?

Good-day all! I know they aren't "exactly" trawlers, but Novatec does have a line of "Islander" yachts that are considered "fast trawlers". I was hoping to gather some experienced information on them (particularly the 2000-2004 48/55 model). With just about everything onboard that's on our list...
