    UV Water Sterilization

We are purchasing a 1995 Ocean Alexander and the pre purchase surveyor has included installing a UV Water Sterilization system. We had a 1977 Grand Banks 36 before and the only thing we did was add a sediment filter. I've read the posts available for the last couple of years and our...

Davits for GB 36 to carry 11' Whaler

I am looking for recommendations for a Davit system to carry my 11' Boston Whaler Tender w/ a 9hp Mercury outboard. Total weight about 350 lbs. Weaver has a set that mounts on the swim platform and the dingy tips up on its side. I am thinking traditional arms off the transom may be a better...

What Paint to use for Interior Cabin

When I purchased my Grand Banks, the interior cabin had been painted with a latex paint. It has not adhered well and is flaking off. No choice but to scrape and remove all the latex. Any ideas on the best paint to use when I repaint? Thanks Barney

Renovating the Galley on a GB 36

Work almost completed Here's a picture of my new countertop and sink install. I went to a company called Granite Transformations with my old countertop. They replicated the base and covered it with a granite veneer, saving a lot of weight. So now the galley has new refrigerator, stove, a more...

Grand Banks 36 single or twin?

Like my Single I purchased a '77 Grand Banks 36 with a single John Deere. I liked the idea of less maintenance but was afraid of reduced maneuverability. As a few others have commented - I cannot imagine how hard it would be to work on anything in the engine compartment with twins. I've already...

    Old Heat Exchanger

When I purchased my Grand Banks 36 it looks like every mechanic in the last 40 years just left replaced parts in the bilge. I've cleaned out and sorted everything. The one part I have no idea what to do with is a Heat Exchanger off the John Deere Diesel. Does anyone know if they can be...

Renovating the Galley on a GB 36

Thinner Granite There is a company in our town by the name of Granite Transformations that installs a Granite "Veneer" that is about 1/2 the thickness of normal. They apply it over the existing countertop in homes. I am going to check with them to see if they have a solution for the boat...

Renovating the Galley on a GB 36

I am renovating the Galley on my GB 36 Classic. I have replaced the non working refrigerator and installed a new propane stove. Now I want a new countertop with a bottom mount sink. I don't necessarily want to go back with Formica and while Corian would be an option I hear that it can get burn...

SWFY - Southwest Florida Yachts? Looking for training. In the past my wife has been the self described bow ornament (her words) and I think training together and not Spouse directed training would be best. She claims I'm losing my patience as I age.
