    Dinghy Davit Reinforcement (Stern Rail)

If it were my boat, I would not hang it from the rails. They aren’t designed to hold equipment. I would mount it to the transom. Plenty of strength, even if it filled with water.

    AGM batteries if discharged?

They are salvageable My four 31M-AGM 100ah batteries were deeply drained (less than 2vdc)when I left her in Pensacola last summer. I put them on a slow charge as recommended by Interstate Batteries. They are fully functional with minimal damage.

    Alternator or Battery

It appears that the self-exciting alternator didn’t excite. If you rev up that engine, say up to 1600rpm, does that get the voltage meter increasing? Is there a wire to the alternator for exciting? Maybe connected to an oil pressure switch?

    Raymarine RD218 Radar

South Enough to Avoid Winterizing the Boat?

I am currently winterizing my IG32 at Green Turtle Bay. Since Seasoned was in the Everglades for the past 2 or more decades, she doesn’t like the “pink stuff.” The Marina is now blowing out the dock water lines. Welcome to Winter❄️

Since Irma blewout all of the electronics on my new boat, I utilized my iPad running Navionics with Raymarine WiFi chartplotter/sonar to overlay sonar and depth for a 1400 trek from Goodland FL to Green Turtle Bay. They worked flawlessly.

    Help! Cutlass bearing question

During a haulout for bottom job, thru-hull valves and ither items, I had the cutlass bearing replaced. It was not necessary to pull the shaft nor drop the rudder. 1/2” was cut from the log, a setup made to pull the old bearing. Easy Peasy. I’ll try to post a photo of the setup

New Owner of 1987 Island Gypsy 36

Trip down the Tenn-Tom Congratulations, Vadim, on your new acquisition. I, too, bought an IG this year, an 1984 IG32 with a single SP135. Picked it up in the Everglades taking it to Pensacola for a haul-out during July. Then brought it up the Tenn-Tom mid-August to GTB. I may have passed you...

    IG 32 thru hull valves

I’m preparing to do a haul out on a newly purchased IG 32 #45 for a bottom job and thru hulls. How are the valves attached to the hull? Are they threaded since these aren’t bolted in place? I need to remove these to rebuild them as they do not close. Also, is there but one cutlass bearing on the...

Opinions on "best" iPad navigation app?

I have great confidence and success with Navionics HD. I used it to transit from Marco Island to Pensacola. It performed flawlessly and the Raymarine Dragonfly WiFi sonar overlayed so they were displayed.
