I think one was created a couple of years ago. I never got around to ordering one and I don't remember who spearheaded the operation.

Getting ready to survey a 1990 Californian MY w/425hp

I know this is an old post but, I have a 1989 48' Californian similar to yours. I know my bottom is dirty now but even when I splashed after a fresh bottom paint, I could only reach 2400 WOT. I have thought I am propped a bit too high as well. What did you change to and what WOT does your...

89 carver Californian 48 water leak

I am happy to report, after pouring bilge cleaner in and flooding the bilge with fresh water several times to clean it, my odor is gone and my leak is fixed. The area remains dry. I will in the future, check the rudder shafts often. Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions during my post.

89 carver Californian 48 water leak

In my case, I dismissed the rudder as a source because there was a limber hole right there and you could look under the bed and see a very small amount in the bilge. I dismissed it because in my mind it could not get to the midship problem. My centerline tank is actually two narrow long tanks...

89 carver Californian 48 water leak

Well my water intrusion mystery is finally solved in case anyone is interested. I knew I had a little seepage from my starboard side rudder shaft, but you could see it enter a limber hole in the stringer in the aft of the boat and there was a straight shot through to the aft sump. There is a...

    Holding tank vent locations

Sorry, I see I hit post twice on my last post. I am curious, where are you mounting the new a/c system? I still have 3 split units and wondered about the all in one units but so far mine are doing good. Good luck on your project.

    Holding tank vent locations

I realize this is an old post but I just came across it. I have the same boat except a 1989. Only one of the vents on the side is hooked to the vent line. My vent line was plugged as well. My holding tank is in the aft cabin floor port side. One hatch lets you see the sending unit and the hatch...

Thanks Bayview, I have ordered a plumber's wrench like above post mentioned. I think it will work fine.

    Rudder Packing Nut size

Sounds like a great idea. For a quicker fix, I think I will pick up one of the plumbers wrench mentioned above. Looks like they would do the trick. Thanks, Charlie

    Rudder Packing Nut size

Thanks, I may be able to use a chain wrench but was looking for the correct size for the confined space. It would probably be easier to turn. Thanks, Charlie

    Rudder Packing Nut size

Thanks, I had looked on line and they make packing nut wrenches that are short and stubby for that reason but the plumber wrench you have pictured would probably work. I knew just a regular end wrench would probably be too long in the confined space. I tried to measure the packing nut but wanted...

    Rudder Packing Nut size

Hi, I have a 1989 Carver Californian 48'. I am wondering if any of you know the correct size wrench for the rudder shaft packing nut. I would like to purchase the correct size wrench before I go back to the boat. I would prefer to buy a correct wrench rather than use channel locks or adjustable...

    USCG Vessel Documentation

I had just a simple renewal but it wasn't any problem at all. Mine expired at he end of January 2020. I sent in the $26.00 fee and of course filled out the renewal portion in January and I received it back already.

    Sanitation Hose replacement

Hi again Peggie, just wondering if the sanitation hoses are usually kept in place in the inaccessible areas with fasteners or can you normally pull a hose through as you described with the old hose. Just trying to get a better idea of what I am facing. The hoses I can get to will be no problem...

    Sanitation Hose replacement

Hi all, I know this has probably been asked and answered many times but I did not find a thread. I want to replace all of my accessible sanitation hoses. Looks like some are going to be very difficult due to going through bulkheads. I have freshwater flush if that makes a difference. What is...

I want a POWERFUL LED Flashlight

I bought one at Walmart that looks almost identical to the one you pictured that I am very pleased with in fact I also bought a yellow hand held spot light type that I also liked. Nasty dirty fenders...

I have used Awesome to clean my fenders and it seems to work very well. Spray it on, rub with a brush or mitt, spray them off. You can get it at the Dollar Store. I also use a garbage bag on my fenders when I am locking. The bag doesn't last long but they are not expensive, throw them away and...
