    Nordic Tug 42

Is there a specific reason for a Nordic Tug? American Tug, Helmsman and North Pacific might suit your needs as well

    Considering a North Pacific 45

The NP 45 weight in at 44k lbs. no need for ballast. We do not have stabilizers either. We have heard about adding a gyro (eg Seakeeper) so it depends on how you might use the boat. For us in the PNW there does not appear to be a need unless going into open ocean or heavy waves.

Dinghy naming, is it a thing?

Agree with “do whatever you want”. Depending on size and motor, will potentially need registration. Our big boat is named Plot Twist, the dinghy “Subplot”

    looking for an Eartec solution

I bought the lanyard, secured it around the ear piece and opposite side to create a “back stop” so it would not accidentally fall off when bending forward. Did something similar with a Velcro strap. Both work.

sea water wash down vs fresh

I’m with you. Use fresh for the NP45 and just fill the tank as needed. I have ours set to fresh since I want to hose off the swim platform

    40' +/- trawler brand options

You may want to narrow from a passage maker (Selene, Nordhaven, KK) versus an intercostal trawler. I am biased toward the North Pacific but everyone has an opinion. Just go through the process of how you will use your trawler, who will be on it 75% of the time, etc. As far as bells and whistles...

    Are boat people the best?

We too were drawn to boating from all the nice people. In our 60’s and just got our first boat. And … a number of are health professionals too and completely get it. Really love the trawler community for sure.

    Considering a North Pacific 45

We are the very satisfied owners of 4516. All the comments about Trevor are true. The fit and finish all high end. We were able to customize a bit as well such as offset of the cockpit door to allow more sitting area for the L settee and gallery cabinets. This is our 1st boat - easy to...

    Heater(s) for trawler

Building trawler with two cabins, 2 heads, Pilothouse, salon. Maybe 500 sq feet. Rules are for 12-15 BTU per cubic foot If adding heater, how many (noise?) and BTU requirements should’ve considered? Also, any comments on air versus hydronic (seems excessive) and no need for AC (n the PNW)...

    Gas or electric dinghy outboard

Having them put a smaller dinghy on our boat A highfield 3.4M vs. the larger 3.6 or 3.8. Still can get a battery in the seat just not configure for 2 batteries. Given the range is 10 miles at full speed (25 knots) or > 40 miles at 5 mph thought one battery was plenty.

    Gas or electric dinghy outboard

If you can wait until 2021 ... what we are doing is adding a PureWatercraft with speed and range. Similar to a 25-50hp motor. Benefits of all electric as well. https://www.purewatercraft.com/complete-boats/

    North Pacific NP45

Question - what is the longest LOA dinghy I could put on a NP45 with a davit system off the swim platform? Guidelines say 2 ft less than the beam (13’8”). The length of the swim platform is 12’1”. Have my eyes on a 3.4M (~11’4”) but wondering about a 3.6M ( ~11’10”)

    North Pacific NP45

We have 4516 on order and struggle with the same question. We heard as others above noted that this is just something easy to get used to. We made she to have the ability to move from the cockpit to FB to bow (ladder to FB) so you did not need to go through the salon. Spoke to other owners who...
