Looking for a used or non operating unit for some parts to scavenge. New boat, disassembled windlass with a few missing parts. Thanks, Bob

    Which a/c unit?

Had two of their units on our last boat. Even though they had rotary compressors they vibrated so bad you could feel it throughout the boat. Noisiest units we ever encountered. Never again.

    mpg/mp$ gas/diesel

In another thread we agreed that mpg for diesel was higher than mpg for gas. Haven't been to a fuel dock in ages but the street price of diesel is higher than the gas price. So instead of focusing on mpg what would the result be if we use mp$? Just a thought, Bob

    MPG gas vs. diesel

We've done the East Coast several times but in a sailboat. Mostly in the ditch, no hurry to get anywhere, some offshore legs. Carried 110gal diesel for a 56HP Perkins. Had a watermaker so we very rarely visited a fuel dock, anchored out almost exclusively. Hence, not really up on refueling...

Cat 3116, good, bad, problem areas

Been there, done that. Mostly negative comments, usually about the soft blocks and after coolers.

    MPG gas vs. diesel

That's what I thought but I wanted to verify with the experts. Coming from a sail boat that carried 210 gal for a 80 HP engine, fuel range was never an issue. Thanks for some actual numbers rslifkin. Bob

    Recognize this engine?

It's a Craigslist ad with very few details. The seller has dropped the price twice n the last month. Makes me really leery, plus really not crazy about a gas boat. Think I'll pass.

Is there a site showing power boat details

The only book I can find on Amazon is Family & Express Cruisers 1975-1996. Looking more at trawler type boats. At $17.95 I might just give it a try.

    Recognize this engine?

Thanks for all the responses. I'm not really crazy about a gas boat but it looks like a really nice boat until the seller mentioned that one engine does not run.

    Recognize this engine?

Not a Chevy then? A nice boat at a good price but one engine does not run.

Is there a site showing power boat details

Just sold the sail boat and planing to move to the dark side. For sail boats there is sailboatdata.com which lists details and layouts for most sailboats, at least the one we were interested in. Is the a similar site for power boats? Thanks, Bob

    Propane On DEmand Water Heater

We put a propane on demand water heater on a small cat that we bought in the Baltimore area. On the way south, it went in a dumpster in Norfolk. It constantly cycled between on, hot water, then off, cold water. Total PITA.

    Mainship 40 Sedan Bridge, Bahamas?

Hadn't considered the water issue. It's been twenty years since we've had a boat without a watermaker. Got spoiled. Current boat holds just over 200 gal of diesel, genset and watermaker. Really hate to give it up.

    Mainship 40 Sedan Bridge, Bahamas?

Would you take the above vessel to the Bahamas? Coming from a go anywhere sailboat we are considering going to the dark side due to some age related issues. Thanks, Bob
