    Auto-Fill on fresh water tanks?

Can I suggest -even though it sounds a bit strange a toilet float mechanism rigged into the top of the tank- just don’t use a used one

New option for those looking to install a bow thruster on a budget.

I'd settle for that- had some hairy moments docking.

    Slow boat

Thanks for the replies and info- I've been looking at prop options here according to the vic props calculator, it seems to indicate a possible 9.5kts at 2100 rpm with a larger courser prop- we'll see. I don't want hit the wildlife- especially the 5+ meter white pointer that has been keeping us...

    Slow boat

My average from the navionics app says 5.9 kts over 41.1nm. fuel burn is about 6 litres / hr - (about 1 1/2 gal) which is probably an enviable amount from most boat owners. I run the engine at 1800 rpm and the bottom is clean. It's a great boat but I would love to take her further afield in a...

    Slow boat

Hello all, I just completed a great holiday from Lake Macquarie to port Stevens ( ocean coastal) -myall lakes and back home. I love the boat - a Chung hwa clipper 30 with the 80hp lehman but the time to get up there 9hrs is a bit tedious for a 45 nm journey. From a more experienced point of view...

Postal help for our Aussie friends!

Thanks Pau I didn't see any big promotions here- go figure! Hopefully it will shake up the local retailers. There aren't many lehman parts available here that I know of ,so it could be hugely helpful - thanks again

    Prop play

Qualified on the subject Psneeld, I've read some of your other posts on this subject - sounds like you've felt the pain. Would you ever remove the shaft log unless completely necessary? It looks as though a lot of these single chb 's have the same shaft log- surely they would have the same...

    Prop play

love that blue prop I think on consideration I wouldn't remove the the shaft log, just remove the bearing insitu. I think a press could be fabricated by using the shaft log mounting bolts to hold it square to the tube and press the bearing in off that. It may just tap in as well off a soft...

    Prop play

Wished I'd known I wished I'd known the bearing was that worn, the little difficulties of boat ownership become apparent - not like I can just jack it up and get stuck in. Thank you all for your knowledge & input - you blokes are a goldmine. Hopefully it gets through to next haul out - or that...

    Prop play

Thanks all I haven't measured the shaft dia - but guessing about 1 1/8 " I was curious about the two bolts on the sides of the housing- shaft tube (I presume this houses the cutlass bearing)

    south pacific 900E windlass slipping

If anyone is interested Found the problem- the middle gear had separated and was spinning without driving. Welded them back together with tig. Needed to be well clamped to stop the weld misaligning

Chung hwa clipper Thanks Ted, don't fix what isn't broke -yet. I don't think I've got a cutlass bearing, I'm trying to post a photo of it. Hopefully I can. The CHB owners might be familiar with these

    Prop play

Hello all, Just completed slipping the boat. Mostly went ok, just a bit concerned about a bit of prop shaft play. I would say about 3 mm (1/8) play. It doesn't vibrate or leak- just wondering if it's normal?

    wireless headsets

The sena ones I have require no mobile phone ( cell tower) to operate, they are completely hands free once the intercom is activated- which at the moment they can intercom with up to four sets ( 1 speaks 234 hears, 2 speaks 134 hears etc) they upgrade the software occasionally via usb. I ride to...

    wireless headsets

My wife and I ride motorcycles together and use bluetooth headsets that are 100% reliable (up to a KM away) they have a microphone boom and speakers that are stuck inside the helmets (Im not suggesting using motorcyle helmets to dock your boat) but mount to a head set and away you go. They...

    south pacific 900E windlass slipping

Hi all, this may be more of a question for the aussies (not sure if these windlasses are sold much elsewhere) My south pacific windlass 900E has stopped engaging or slipping at the gypsy (all chain) so it is something internal I believe. I have recieved a diagram from the suppliers but its very...

Anodes in Tung hwa clipper 30

Same here, the flooring is good even where the galley is. I do have some panel water damage I suspect from wet teak decks. I'm hoping to get her up to a decent standard- close to yours Adelaide would be good- but I'm the type who would rip the guts out of it and restore it given the opportunity-...

Anodes in Tung hwa clipper 30

Thanks for the info fellas, now I've got an idea what I'm looking at needing. might have to do a quick dive beforehand to make sure ( hopefully I've got one of those divers dreams - I've got no idea why they're called that) and I do love the boat, lucky for the boat cause it needs a lot of love...

    Hello from Lake Mac

Thanks for the welcome boys. Those damned NH lads haven't got a clue we're taking over. Who are NH by the way? I just spent the day at Lake Macquarie going through some manoeuvring docking skills with the old man and just cruising around. I feel this boating pace is letting me stop and smell...

    Hello from Lake Mac

Thanks Steve, I gave that a go. I trawled the net (excuse the pun) for lien hwa/tung hwa owners assn but this site seems to be the best. I've already picked up a few good tips just reading some other posts. I'm beginning to wonder if an owners or workshop manual exists.

    Hello from Lake Mac

Hello everyone, another aussie joining in. Just bought a Clipper 30 (Taiwan built who's name eludes me right now)with my dad and cruised her from pittwater to lake mac, all went well- except for a bit of rough weather and seasick brother. She's an 81model 80hp Lehman. Finding it a bit hard to...
