Adding a captain's chair to lower helm - ideas?

I just found this Stidd chair for sale here in Bellingham, WA for less than half the new price. I can't use it, but thought I'd let all of you know.

Just curious - why do the Stidd chairs cost about 10x as much as Flexsteel's?

The good Stidds are to keep your spine together in 6G to 8G loads from a fast boat in big water.

The RV seats sometimes have an air shock , but it is not up to boat style impacts.

How much do the Flexsteel helm chairs cost? I perused their website, but didn't see prices. Ebay search only produced saloon chairs and couches (nice!).

Glastop and Brad&Hall sell them, the helm seats from Flexsteel run about $500-$600, plus about $150 for pedestal. So you can get the seats for under $1k with shipping.

Maybe if we have enough interest here on the forum, we could band together and get a group discount?
