I'm going to replace the fresh water pump on a Marine Air VTD16K. I want to replace the MARCH LC-3CP-MD with a different March pump. I want to upgrade to a MDXT March® Magnetic Drive Polypropylene Pump with 1/55 HP, 115v Air Cooled Motor.

My questions are:

Will this swap be plug and play using the same wiring as the smaller March?
The MDXT pumps 7 gallons/minute rather than 4-5 with the existing LC-3CP-MD pump. Will I need a new strainer?

Does anyone know?

You might call Depco pumps and ask. They sell March pumps and usually have good support.

I think the extra current that the new pump might draw will be minimal and the wire size, relay capability, etc won't be compromised.

What size hose is it connected to? What size strainer?

It will be awhile before I’m back to the boat. I’ll update this thread with hose size and strainer info when I have that info.

Thanks to all for responding - David
