Part of my refit is to replace all of the bottom mounted transducers on the boat. The old ones are all original from 1977, so they aren't compatible with any modern electronics.
I'm looking at an Airmar B60 fish finder transducers and came across Airmar's Mix & Match series. The Mix & Match transducers come with a standard 5 pin airmar cable 6' long and then you can buy a 9 meter cable that goes from the 5 pin to whatever brand of finder you put in the boat from Furuno, Garmin, Hummingbird, etc... They have more than a dozen cables to support whichever equipment you purchase.
Does anyone have any experience with these? I don't really see any downside aside from the transducer needing a cable which adds to the cost slightly. At this point I don't know what Fishfinder I might buy and I don't really want to have to decide before I mount the sensor and launch the boat. I'm OK with the capabilities of the sensor and the range of finders that the B60 is compatible with.
