Anchor chain snubber

I lost my last snubber overboard (don't ask!) and since I need a new one, I thought I'd ask the experts here. I have a 42GBCL with a Lofrans running 350 feet of 3/8HT chain. Any thoughts out there on the best hook hardware and bridle style for this set up and vessel?

According to Practical Sailor, the issue with most chain hooks is they weaken the chain. Marine designs lag industrial designs in this respect. Practical Sailor still likes a good gripping hitch (Camel Hitch or Prussik Hitch) using a dockline, though many seek an easy-button.

Here's an example of an industrial chain hook which has a nice 'cradle' to it to reduce point-loading, though it is not galvanized and, according to the ratings, still reduces chain strength by about 20%, which is better than most (PS tests found >40% is not unheard of with marine versions).

Practical Sailor did not like the Mantus chain hook when they first reviewed it 10-years ago. Mantus has since redesigned the hook into more of a cradle style (the M2) which should support the chain without point-loads.
