Today is yet another perfect day in La Paz!

Last night we watched the parade at the Carnaval, and today we are just relaxing.

Having a Margarita at the marina restaurant, and doing nothing important at all.

This week 4 American medication/prescription tourists were kidnapped, 2 of them murdered in Matamoras. Granted a long way from you. Sad what the country has become. How goes the crime scene in your area?

Best global perspective is from the US State Dept that issues travel advisories. HERE is their map for Mexico (zoom out for rest-of-world). Baja Norte (Ensenada/Tijuana) have a 'reconsider travel' warning. Baja Sur - La Paz - has a lower level of caution. Matamoras where the kidnappings took place is "Do Not Travel," same as Syrian and Afghanistan.

As someone who has spent a LOT of time in Mexico over the last 6-8 years both in Baja and the Yucatan, the most annoying part of these discussions is the Mexican Govt's tendency to sugar-coat. Initially, the kidnappings were just an unfortunate event where the car was caught in a crossfire of rival gangs. The biggest issue with LEO in Mexico is its damn hard to figure out who is wearing the white hats.

But I still love it here. But not blind to the issues. Corruption and pot holes.
