Any one on board herd of overseas trawlers??

That is about as CHB as it gets. Definitely a Taiwanese trawler and the thousands of posts you will find here all apply. You will find much to read, just keep an open mind and dismiss the extremes from both ends.

Not dumb at all. It is the initials for a Taiwanese builder (or 3) just look through the subject lines in this subforum and and you will find a wealth of information. CC has done a huge amount of information collection and sifting that will be invaluable to you.

CHB = Chung Hwa Boatyard. Prolific maker of trawler style boats from early 70s. Mine was 1975. Originally in Taiwan - now operations moved to Mainland China near Hong Kong I believe, tho name has changed also I think.

The boat we can afford. The cost to slip per ft in San Diego is crazy. We are on a 9 year waiting list for a mooring ball in Americas cup harbor.

We are moving the boat from the west coast of FL to the East Coast.

Remember we have an open dock for cruisers , located about a mile before the Ortona Lock.

Although many folks will stop in La Belle , a free city dock, in walking distance (barely) to Bridge auto supply, a great source .

The galley up gives less room in the saloon PhatDad but room for the double in the forward cabin. If you dont mind 2 steps, the galley down version gives room in the saloon for 2 easy chairs and a coffee table which suits our style of cruising as we have the grandkids on board more than their parents so the v berth works best for us. It depends what works best for you and your style of cruising. My wife likes the galley down as well so that when we entertain the dishes and prep is out of sight.

both of the boats you linked to appear to be versions of boats built at Cheer Men Marine/ Taiwan Overseas Industries...as was mine.* They go by the name Performance Trawlers and/or Overseas PTxx (might be others).

There's a thread or two or three in this section on them...

I just bought a 44' withn twin cats It has flybridge helm only Is this common? I am thinking of installing a set of controls on the rear deck for docking Any thoughts?
