Is anyone aware of a service or company that arranges boat swaps along the lines of home swaps for vacations? In other words someone has a similar boat on the east coast and wants to trade boats with someone on the west coast for a period of time in order to checkout new cruising grounds?

I had 20 hours on my generator rebuild when I took a sample for the heck of it. Horrible metal numbers which Blackstone Labs said was breaking numbers.

I would be interested in that.

We have the perfect PNW boat but yearn to do the Great Loop again, yet don't really want to sell her and buy another boat on the Eastern third of the USA.

Let me know if you find something.

Cheers from Desolation Sound, BC

Jon,
I think you would have to do that privately. Too many risks and complications for a company to take on at any reasonable cost.

I like the idea but I don't know how you could get insurance coverage unless you add them as operators. But that should be possible.

Another approach on a smaller scale (shorter durations) would be to just be volunteer crew. I did that recently with a couple on the forum who came from NC to CA to help on a San Diego to San Francisco Delta trip. Not the same as a true boat swap but a way to experience new cruising grounds.
