Boats We Saw

I'm sure some of you know we took a little mini-cruise from Carolina Beach,NC to Georgetown, SC. Here are some shots of the trawlers (and an MY or two) we saw on our trip. That was an amazing trip....hard to put into words.* But I'm sure ya'll "get it".*

Very nice, Tom and Bess.* Looks like this is the first of many cruises.* You are lucky to have many great destinations right in your own back yard.* One of my personal favorites is Cape Lookout.* We hope to stop there for a night or two*on our way North.* Your blog was great.

Gonz.....did I have to take some deep breaths (and sighs) during that wonderful photo session. *Unlike poor Old Stone, I'm already out there, but the number of trawlers down here in Miami is a very small percentage of the zillion or so boats in Biscayne Bay. *Still, we do get some nice ones anchored here in our little cove, and we've hosted three different Krogens right here at our dock in the last month, with a PDQ 41 TrawlerCat thrown in the middle of it. *Horrible pictures compared to yours, but still nice trawlers.

Gonzo- that one pic (#7) is by far one of the more "interesting" Hatteras 53's I've seen- pretty sure that is a hatt 53 classic with flybridge removed and a fake smoke stack installed on top?

Looks like you stayed in Harborwalk marina in Georgetown...* I recognize the Grand Banks with the red trim.* When we were there I was docked right next to him.* Get*a chance to walk around town some?*

I think it is worth the trip through the rockpile and the rest of that godawful ditch behind Myrtle Beach to experience the Waccamaw river section.* It is one of my favorite sections of the ICW.

I don't know exactly what that is, but IIRC, the Hatteras 53's were availible both with and without the flybridge as an option. There are (or were) two for sale in Beaufort, NC. One was with a flybridge and one without. The smokestack I can't explain

Woody -* We were indeed*at Harborwalk infront of the Red GB.* Funny, Chris the dockmaster said, "don't worry about him, he's not going anywhere".* We jumped on the bikes and tooled around town.* They are renovating the clocktower and I asked Tom if we got up to 88 MPH if we could jump into the future!*

I agree....the Waccamaw River is worth the rockpile and Myrtle Beach to experience it.* And that's what it is too...you don't just cruise through it...it envelopes you.* Next time go through there, we'll have to leave the dog at home so we can linger for a while.

Don* - Love Cape Lookout too.* We just visited once prior to our move to CB, but look forward to visiting there again
