Closed on New Boat Today

Congratulations and best wishes with your new boat. When I bought recently I considered changing the name of the boat to Meander or Menderes. As you probably know the word meander originates from the name of the Menderes river in Turkey which flows into the sea near the ancient city of Miletos which is about 30 Km from where I live. This river is called Büyük Menderes which means Great Menderes and there is a less well known and smaller river called Küçük Menderes meaning Little Menderes which flows into the sea about 10 Km from my home very close to the ancient city of Ephesus.

thanks for that. i had no idea. Now tell me why my previous owner misspelled it, as Meannder. This may be just one of those things I leave in place as a conversation starter.

Wifey B: Maybe not misspelled at all. Has the thought passed that perhaps none of you know why the name or what it was intended to represent?

Maybe Mean Ender phonetically. Perhaps a proctologist or undertaker. :lol:

Perhaps parts of someone's name or multiple names. Perhaps, Me, Ann Dershowitz.

There was a proud Native American from Sioux City, so he combined his name with the airport designation and got a tag reading "DALESUX".

Microsoft once had a Critical Update Notification Tool. The acronym led them to change it to Critical Update Notification Utility.

Or, maybe they just couldn't spell. Or maybe the signmaker couldn't?

No idea but it may well be there was an important someone in the equation called Ann.

Ha... you've touched on precisely the problem. All that stuff goes round and round..with no answer. I asked the broker..twice, to find out. No luck. I'm thinking about re naming her after my dog. But his name is just "white dog" so maybe not?. My last boat was Celtic Knot, but that was when I had an irish wife, and I named it in her honor. Perhaps "empty bank" is better now?
