Many of us followed the drama of the barge that broke loose in Elliott Bay in Seattle (especially those of us with a boat in a marina there). It nearly crunched the Seattle waterfront. A captain of a water taxi saved the day in remarkable fashion. His funny quote in the Seattle Times is fantastic:

“I use my considerable maritime skills to keep me from situations requiring my considerable maritime skills.”

Amen. Enjoy. And get out there on your boat.

My wife and I both repeated the phrase in Foghorn Leghorn voices.

Great story and quote. Sometimes people ask whether I have ever been in a scary situation at sea. My answer is that I put a lot of thought and effort into not getting into scary situations at sea.

“If you can keep your head when all around you are loosing theirs … perhaps you haven’t grasped the situation”.

“Experience is what you get when you don’t get what you’re expecting”.
