I came across this davit for sale at a good price. Only problem is the seller doesn't know the weight capacity.

There are no logos anywhere to be found. I searched several davit manufacturers sites and couldn't find an identical unit. The seller had said it came off a 63ft, so my 1st thought was a Hatteras, and sure enough the first result on yachtworld pulled up a basically identical davit on a 63 Hat for sale. The listing says it is rated 1800lbs and lifts a 15ft whaler with a 70hp).

That's pretty good evidence. But I just figured I should try to make sure I'm not looking at a smaller version by the same company. (It's tough to grasp scale in the pics.) Also, i couldn't find that same davit on any other Hatteras, so clearly they didn't put the same unit on all of them (unless all the other owners have since upgraded from the original unit).

Anybody know (or guess) who made this davit?

That looks like the one I removed from my 63’ Hatteras CPMY. I sold it last year to a guy who managed EPIC marina in Miami IIRC.

I know how much he spent, how much is he asking? BTW it is an old MarQuipt unit from the mid eighties. We replaced it with a fully powered hydraulic one off a Viking sportfisher.

Do you know what the weight capacity is? What was the weight of the tender you were lifting with it?

I always thought it was 1500 lbs, but I’m not really sure why. We lifted a novurania 430 tender with a 60hp Yamaha. The tender is 540lbs dry and the motor is 262lbs for 800lbs or so.

It has many similarities to a MarQuipt tenderlift 1500. Primarily the base and the part of the davit that fits on it. MarQuipt is in Pompano Beach, FL and in business.

Yes it is a Marquipt. There should be a rating on the winch as well. The Marquipt people are nice folks (or were at least when we dealt with them re: our old unit on our Hatt, which was rated for 1200) so double check with them.
Keep in mind you need an appropriately sized standpipe too.

I pulled up the pictures from the ad last year and they are not the same unit. It’s the same model, but mine was in better condition.

Yes I doubt it's yours because the guy who's selling it does not work at a marina.

Do you mind saying how much you sold yours for?
