Hixson. It’s across the water from Chattanooga. Spent awhile Sunday talking with the owner, looking over the boat. Great guy; super organized, has owned the boat 14 years. He asked me if I wanted to take it out for a spin and gave me a chance to drive it for about 5 miles up river from the marina. After I frankly told him I have scheduled other boats to look at. Handled fine. I only operated it on open water.
The boat will need haul out and bottom paint, new zinc pretty soon. Topside will need repainted before long - deep cracks around the bench at the bow. Needs a bunch of little things done. This boat doesn’t have the manual switch over between top and bottom helm stations. Engines and generator started up pretty quickly, but the owner said he'd been there already and had run them a little bit earlier in the morning which accounted for the ease with which they started. Honest guy. Has an automatic fire suppression system. $27k is top end of my disposal lump sum cash boat budget. This was the second boat I have looked at in person. Liked it a lot. I'm scheduled to look at the boat in Knoxville Saturday. I would be surprised if I hear back from the broker in Kentucky.
