I have twin 8v91TA on my boat. Flawless. Maybe slightly messy. They don't burn oil, start with a nudge, run to spec. 21kts on my 75,000 lb Tolly. I have come to love these engines, and the two strokes in general. A fav. resource for beginners like me is the videos on "Dangar Marine" youtube channel.

we just replaced 2 8V71 gensets on the tug I work on. They run 24/7 (alternate days) and have for almost 45 years. They get rebuilt every 40,000 hrs...whether they need it or not. They have been replaced by new John Deere gensets... The payback in fuel and oil savings will be about 5-6 years on these engines.... But they haven't proven themselves yet... Still have 2 more 8V-71's aboard, 1 as a tow winch engine, 1 as a bow thruster power..
