Any thoughts on using aluminum tubing for the coolant tubes that connect the expansion tank to the heat exchanger at the rear of the engine? Turned these on the lathe out of 1 1/2” sch40 6061 pipe. O/D of tube is 1.750 and the barb at each end is 1.850.

Dumb question, why not to use a hose in place of the tube? I mean the tube looks to be connected to 2 pieces of hose so why not just a full length hose?

The original Lehman setup uses two pieces of metal tubing with a coupling between. There isn’t a straight shot from the expansion tank to the heat exchanger so a slight angle is needed hence the flexible joint in the middle. The previous owner had two sections of corrugated universal radiator hose joined together with a short piece of tubing. It looked a bit janky and took up a lot more room on the side of the engine.
