See the red button on the filter. Used to remove air when filling. The filter is on the suction side of the pump. When the pump starts, the path of least resistance is thru the red button. It gets pulled down slightly, air enters, and when the air hits the impeller it becomes millions of little bubbles. The pump loses efficiency with all those bubbles and may not be able to reach shut off pressure. If you have an accumulator tank, it's probably half full of air on the water side and not operating correctly. It can cause the pump to have short cycle.”

I like it! Air getting into the intake side. Explains everything. Move the filter to the pressure side, maybe install a proper strainer on the intake side and everything should work. Nice catch on the vent button.

Nicely done. Lepke!!!

No leaks. Checked everywhere. I'm going to buy a new accumulator and install it. Thanks for the input.

Sounds like you have an air lock in the system. I had the same when I installed a new water pump. Let it run, while running the water in a sink. Should clear up soon, if there really is no leak anywhere.

Edit - just read all of the comments - right on

Filter vs water pressure

I tried without success to use a “whole house filter” and just having it online reduced the pressure unacceptably low. Ended up with a par max 5+ GPH variable pump and had great pressure, used a faucet filter for drinking water.

Additionally Lepke has the shut off answer with the filter backwards.

What kind of filter did you try? I installed one 2 years ago and it is working fine without much pressure lost.

Water filter

It was a whole house blue canister type with an element that was high rated for taste, chemicals and organics. Now use a Sea Gull just for drinking water
