Fuel price Bellingham

The friendliest place on the web for anyone who enjoys boating.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
How closely are marina prices linked with normal automobile gas prices? I think pent up demand will cause auto fuel to rise this summer due to the large number of people hitting the road, right or wrong. Diesel volume will increase, and that will affect the boating community, but I’m not sure about gasoline.

No, that is not my interpretation, that is your words and data. You presented a graph and said that we are on track to pre-pandemic prices. Looking at your graph, prices were pretty steady pre-pandemic. Based on Your data and Your statement that we are headed back to pre-pandemic prices, I would expect that prices have just about peaked and will now level off. You can't have it both ways. Again, it will be interesting to see the same graph in 6 mos or a year from now.
First, I was responding to another poster who said the Dems are responsible for the increase in prices over the last 3 months. I'm pointing out that the recent usually low prices were caused by the global pandemic. Trump, love him or hate him, did not create Covid-19 and did not create the pandemic. Oil is a global commodity. The Dems, love them or hate them, in 3 months cannot have done anything to drive global oil prices up. That is the global economy recovering. I was pointing out that prices have recovered to pre-pandemic levels. I did not say prices would be stable. That, again, is your interpretation.

The source of the graph is https://www.tititudorancea.com/z/us_diesel_onhighway_retail_prices_graphs_history.htm where you can find graphs for other time periods. If you look at the longest you will see that despite dips and rises diesel prices go up.

Perhaps my posts weren't clear enough. Perhaps you enjoy a certain point of view and won't try to understand what another is saying.

No matter, I'm done with this topic. It's not about boating.

Tell that to the keystone pipeline workers and all those who would have benefitted from their endeavors.
Can you point me to some data that shows this?

Yes, the fracking boom made the USA energy independent, but it's not sustainable at the oil prices we've had for much of the last year. Just look at the layoffs and bankruptcies in the US oil industry.

Climbing oil prices seem to me to be a good thing for the US oil industry, oil industry employees, mineral owners, states dependent on oil revenue, etc.

This explains much of the relationship as I understand it: https://www.eia.gov/todayinenergy/detail.php?id=43796

I’m for political “interjections” in a political time like this. It’s good to share RESPECTABLY our thoughts and worries.

But in normal times not so much.

I understand that politics are frowned upon on TF. I don't agree with Portage that this discussion is not about boating. A discussion about fuel prices is very relative on a forum where most boats consume a great deal of fuel in a season. It's hard to discuss fuel prices w/o some mention of politics.

Eric (Willy) post got me thinking. We all have political opinions and why should we not have a discussion about how boating may be affected by the leadership in govt? A healthy and respectful difference of opinion is a good thing. A big problem today is that nobody is allowed to express how they feel. An intelligent exchange of ideas should be encouraged. It can sometimes help us understand each other even if we don't agree. It's better than crossing your arms and closing your ears shaking your head and thinking everyone is wrong but you. It might be more interesting at times than who has the best anchor. Probably needs buy-in from the mods and maybe even needs its own thread. Not sure, just thought I'd share my thoughts for what they are worth.

The problem is it always devolves. Every forum, ever.

This forum had a politics sub forum. It devolved lol.

You can't devolve without evolve. Or something like that. lol
