Fuel valves

The friendliest place on the web for anyone who enjoys boating.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
The Seachoice diagram is correct and the valves I am familiar with on the assistance towboats have been that way for 20 plus years. For 3 port valves by Seachoice and possibly someone else ad I am not sure what valves we used.

They are confusing and while the arrow head does indicate something, it does not indicate correctly if you plumb tanks right and left and engine out the bottom.

Confused me until I shutdown the engine one day and re-sharpied the mounting plate labels. Catches many a new captain.

balance tube

would it be easier if you added a simple balance tube from one tank to the other. If you only had a return to one tank, the tanks would remain even via the balance tube?? You could always put a valve at the tank drain fitting, connecting one to the other.

If you split the fuel supply to either the port or starboard tank, you prevent cross contamination and changing the return to the tank of choice, you can balance the boat port/starboard.
