I shall be berthing my new to me GB Sedan 36 at the top of the River Hamble near Southampton in England. This requires me to lower the stub mast for each trip out and the back in.
The mast lowers rearwards over the open aft deck, and whereas I have devised a method for doing this I wonder if any one on here has direct experience of improved techniques for the lowering and raising process.
The mast section although aluminium is very thick (~4-5mm) and as a result the thing is very heavy.
I am thinking about a tabernacle mount using a section of sailboat mast with it set to topple forwards rather than backwards.
If anyone has set up a hydraulic arrangement I would very much like to learn how this was done.
Thanks.
