We've been retired in Mexico (Merida, Yucatan) for 4 years now and hail from British Columbia originally. We're planning on purchasing an older 34-40 foot trawler in BC and do some reverse snow birding by heading up North for the summer months when it's ungodly hot (110-130f) here. Maybe you'd call us Sun Birds hehe.
We boated in and around Vancouver and the sunshine coast in our various express cruisers when we lived there (last boat was a Sea Ray 290DA) but we want a trawler for the living space (plan to mainly anchor out and exploring the whole area from the San Juan's to Desolation Sound) and stability/safety in bigger seas).
Looking forward to learning all I can about what the best boat is for our needs here as well as tips and tricks for anchoring and exploring these areas.
