Holding tank vent smell and aeration

Yeah, mine too.

Got the pump and the fittings and the tubing. Even made a "double hose cap" to fit the 2 hoses from the Marine Metal Bubbles. All in a bag and ready to go. But this is a boat right?

The waste tank sensor is also kaput. So, I'm gonna fix that first and then do the bubbles -

What material is your holding tank made out of? If it is plastic then it may be easier to replace the holding tank monitor system with a Scad system that sticks onto the outside of the tank. I did mine a couple of years ago and it was very easy and has worked very well. And since it is stuck on the outside of the tank there isn’t any messing around with the contents of the tank…

We had a very experienced person give u a question and answer session at the North Pacific gathering last weeked and the subject of holding tank smells came up . He said the standard go to product was Tide laundry soap. He made sure to clarify it was the granular . About a cup flushed in the toilet. He said removing and servicing the toilets that had been treated with tide removes the smells and made the job much more comfortable. If he has to service a head the first thing he does is get the tide in.

It's not necessary for the tank to be plastic for SCAD external sensors to be used....they can be used on any material except metal. And they offer an internal sensor that CAN be used in metal tanks without clogging. It's encased in a PVC tube that prevents tank contents from coming in contact with it.

That would help clean the sludge, but I don't think would help with the odor. As soon as the tank gets used again, the smell will return unless there is adequate air exchange in the tank.

I ordered up a "tube SCAD" from these guys. My waste tank is surrounded with plywood and there is an old style single float in there now on the top of the tank which looks like this one now obsolete (of course) these old boats...

So hard to glue the foil on the side of the tank and the old obsolete single float shows always full. Because it's stuck with poo I'm sure. Always full, before and after a pump out...

So, step one will be the install of the new tank meter and then the bubbles -

Yeah, a nasty stinky job for sure which is why I've been delaying
