I have an 80hp 4-cylinder on our 1972 Gulfstar trawler that keeps getting air in the uphill CAV filter. The fuel tank is under suction through a Racor 500 that I’ve rebuilt practically twice. All soft lines to the lift pump are replaced with Trident A1 line. ABA fuel clamps. I’ve replaced the CAV filters and all the seals. The air enters the system when the boat sits not running.
My last suspect is mechanical lift pump is leaking when idle, and I am ok with bypassing with an electric pump. I have seal kits for the current lift pump too.
I may call American Diesel tomorrow for ideas.
We’re leaving on the Americas Great Loop in four weeks and I have to get this resolved. We don’t have native diesel mechanics around here that are easily available.
Thanks for your help!

Someone mentioned replacing the plastic drains on the CAV filters.
